Dash light issues.
Ok, I installed a new guage cluster in my 85 Z28 from an 86 IROC-Z donor car, exact fit. Well I did this bc that pod had the 145 mph speedo and more importantly I was trying to cure the driver side turn signal light issue. When I turn the dash lights on the driver side turn signal light comes on and the guages all quit working, tach topped out. Now with this new pod it seems to have some loose connection bc the lights only sometimes want to work, mainly when I push back on it.
Known:
All exterior lights are properly grounded, all shine with the same brightness and all signals flash just fine. I've quadruple checked these.
All bulbs in dash have been replaced with new led L194 direct plug ins (this happened also with just the regular bulbs)
Questions:
Is there a ground that goes to the guage cluster that grounds under the dash? If so, where?
Could the circuit board cause this? If so, both guage pods are doing it when I can get them to come on.
Headlight switch? I've replaced it several years back but that didn't cure it.
I'm up for trying everything. I'm a perfectionist. I like for everything to work right. Thanks for all your help.

OK so it sounds like the replacement pod cured the left turn signal.
It might be a loose connection, it might be an open on the internal PCB.
Using a voltmeter or test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) probe the black connectors’ gray wire.
If there’s power there, even when not pushing on the dash, the problem is a bad connection between that connector and the dash connector, or the PCB in the dash.

Re: Dash 4 cash
Thanks very much. What is the PCM? Is that the connector that sits directly behind the guage cluster? I know I am getting power to the black connector closest to the head light switch. About the third pin from over from the right I am getting 12v. Sorry if I'm not good with terms. I usually am very mechanically inclined. I hate electrical lol

PS:
Not PCM, but PCB which stands for Printed Circuit Board.
OK if there’s power on that gray wire the problem is, the power is not making it to the bulbs.
If the connector is making good contact you will have to open the cluster to find out where the power stops by using your meter or light.
Also, use an ohmmeter check the bulb circuit ground.
It’s the circuit on the PCB that contacts all the illumination bulbs.

Re: Dash light issues.
Ok ok, I completely misread that ha ha. I was wondering what the computer had to do with the lights on an 85 Z28. Yeah, I'm I'm the process of seeking out a new one. I'll post back on here when I know what was wrong and how I fixed it.
Also, are you any good with Fog lights? I posted another thread on this same board.
