1989 GM Factory alarm
Did a search - nothing came up
89 GTA has GM factory alarm
When in non valet mode it sets before I can get 2 bags of groceries out of it. Any way to leave it in normal mode and do away or extend the time on the auto set of the alarm?

If you mean the box under the dash - I have no clue.
The remote is black with a big white nos 1 and 2 in a blue background and GM in a blue box with "remote control" under the GM
The windshield has a sticker stating "GM security system"

Re: 1989 GM Factory alarm
Sounds like the alarm is set on passive arming. That's when the alarm arms itself after the last door is shut. Valet is just a feature that shuts down the alarm system when your having service done somewhere so nobody plays with it or becomes a problem during service. To turn off passive arming, you have to get into programming to turn it off which you will need the manual to do that. Each alarm system manufacture is different and gaining access to programming is different from each other. Same goes for turning on or off valet. If you don't have the manual, you could find it on the net but with it being a very old system, you probably wont find it. Your best bet is to either live with it since it still works or remove it and install a new alarm.

Do you have red or black valet button on the dash somewhere or under the console? Also, do you have a LED that tells you when it' armed? Google two-way pager alarm remote and look at the images. That's how I found mine in my '88.
