Body ground points
Looking for the best place to run a ground wire from the dash ground on the dash support to a body ground .
Any favorites? Seat bolt? Console mount?

Re: Body ground points
The dash support is the ground on a factory car. Are you having problems where you need better ground?

Re: Body ground points
Yeah, having all kinds of interior issues since the car sat so long
Windows not moving, door locks not working etc., 11.7 volts at voltage gauge (Autometer).
I cleaned the C100 connector thoroughly and pretty much stuffed it with dielectric grease.
I have cleaned and greased 90% of the engine compartment contact points, added grounds from battery - frame and new ground straps (4 ga) from both heads to the firewall and frame and am slowly working my way back.
I haven't checked interior function since I cleaned the C100 connector, going out in a few minutes .
It also has a new red top Optima battery and new alternator from Autozone, the one with the rear defrost hookup.

Re: Body ground points
My car sat for a long time too. I had to disassemble the ignition switch on the steering column and rub the contacts with a little sandpaper. That got everything working again.
Electrical connections in the dash go through a really hokie plastic sheet with some circuit traces embedded in it. Best way to clean those up is with a pencil eraser.

Re: Body ground points
Great tips Qwk Trip, thanks!
I was a computer tech for a while and the pencil eraser trick saved my customers from buying a lot of unneeded parts. I cleaned the dash contacts before the car sat (of course)
How hard is it to get to the ignition switch contacts?
Wonder if there's a YouTube video somewhere?
Uncharted territory for me

Re: Body ground points
You have to undo all the electrical connectors and unbolt it from a bracket on the steering column. It's not technically difficult you just have to work on your head underneath the dash.
You can't miss it. It is the device that has all the 12 gauge wires going to it.

Re: Body ground points
So the contacts outside the column right?
Thought I was gonna have to disassemble the whole column
I've had the column unbolted before and spent enough hours under that dash that I'm almost used to it,,,,, almost
