Richmond 3.42 ring & pinion
Thick ring and pinion set - uses a 2 series carrier but allows you the lower (numerically higher) gear. Made by Richmond and like new. Even comes with a Richmond sticker

I'm assuming for a 7.5" 10 bolt, correct? Where are you located? Also, does that include the Richmond install kit? I may be interested in this.

Correct. Thought I had a 2 series carrier, turns out it was a 3 series. Guy gave me a 10 bolt with 3.42's so I used those on my carrier. Bought these on ebay about a year ago and they've just sat on the shelf. Ring and pinion only, no shims or anything. Shipped from Montana 59801

These look almost new there is hardly a wear pattern in them. You can see in relation to the stock 3.23 gear they are much thicker

In the third pic, the pinion looks a bit dinged up on one of the teeth/splines/whatever you want to call them. Is it just dirty, or actually chipped?

Re: Richmond 3.42 ring & pinion
I'll keep this in mind. Still not sure what I want to do with my rear. It's posi 2.73 at the moment, so I need a 2 series like you have. BUT, since it's a gov-lock, it could take a dump at any given time, at which point I would switch to a 3 series since they're so much more common. I'll think it over. If you find a buyer, by all means, take the offer.

[quote=freaky;5296375]what years did the 2 carrier come in ?[/quote
That I'm not really sure about. I believe they were produced 82-92 and then the 4th Gen went to a different size ring gear and is 3 series only. Don't quote me on that.
