VSS harness?
Is there a seperate wire other than the connector on the PCM wiring harness that goes back to the VSS? Is the connector on the manual different than the one on the auto? I don't need the speedo right away, but soon
Hey whatever happened to compiling all the info? I'm in the middle of the swap right now, and even took a picture of where the frame needs to be nothed for the A/C compressor (I have yet to see if it turned out ok though) I know I am going to run into some problems so I will probably be posting more thursday afternoon....

Corry, I have an 87 also and the output for the speedo from the PCM should go to a the passenger side behind the lower dash knee panel. There you'll find a yellow box. Remove it. Now, take the output wire from the PCM and tap it in to either the second or third from the left wire of the plug that went into the old yellow speedo box. I can't remember which exactly. I'm not sure if the vss on the 4l60e and t56 are different. There should have been a plug that went into the vss on the trans itself if you are using the original harness from your engine/trans combo. I had a harness from an auto car and had to splice in a different connector for the t56 I used. It works perfectly and the speedo is dead on. If something here is not clear, ask again and I'll do my best to clarify it for ya.

the problem is I see the VSS wire, but it looks like it'll be a big stretch to get back to the trans. The harness is off an automatic car, and I have a t-56, could you post the details of the new plug I could sort it out, but I'd prefer to be lazy lol.

You'll have to crawl under the car and take a look. The plug has 2 wires if I remember correctly from the PCM. I used a plug from the old 87 harness as some on there fit perfectly. In the pic, A is the VSS and B is the reverse lockout. Just splice it in...I don't think it matters which way.
