built 350 in an 84 truck to my camaro? smart or not please help!!

i have an 84 chevy tool truck that has a built 350 in it, will run a 13 sec. quarter mile with a full load of tools. i have a beautiful 86 camaro z28 that runs like someone put sugar in the gas tank. what do you guys think about swapping the motors? how hard is it, money/ everything like that. the carb. on the camaro is elect. controlled, the one on the truck is not. what do i do to make this work? i dont know a whole lot about domestic's either, i bought the truck for 300 dollars and the guy thought the motor was blown and had never driven it....a hose that has separated inside itself doesnt work very well when driving more than five minutes... anyway, i really would like to put this motor in as it is basically a brand new motor, i just got done painting and chroming everything, but i dont know anything about swapping motors in domestics....i used to be an import guy. thanks for any help or opinions you guys have. OH...also this truck has a seriously bullet proof 400 turbo trans with over 1000 worth of work in it(i have reciepts from prev. owner) and i want to put it in as well...any chance of that working easily? do i have to change the ecu for any of these swaps, or change the prom?

also, sorry i keep forgetting stuff.....this camaro i think was a tune port before some dumbass put a 350 in it and didnt wire anything write or hook up 90% of the vacuum system. if it matters at all.

A SBC is a SBC is a SBC. For the most part. Both engines are now carbed, if I read it all right. What style of crank are in the engines? Are they both 2 pc RMS? If they are not the same, you should just change the starter, flexplate, and all. THis way you avoid mismatched, incompatible parts. Just disconnect everything, switch, reconnect everything.

Use what ever carb and distributor that are in the 350 now. And hook-up all the rest of the sensors and it will be good.

I wouldn't use any computer controlled parts on it, it would kill it.

i just swapped an old 350 from my 82z for a 355. everything slid right into place. i did it in under a week. total work hours i think was in the low 30's. I'm pretty sure the engine mounts will be the same. the only issue i can see would possibly be the wiring. than again it may not. My 1st 350 was a 75 and the new one is a 79. so my wiring didn't all mate up with the stock harness. (new vs old technology) good luck

Car: 86 TransAm
Engine: 360 SBC 4Bolt / Bowtie Heads
Transmission: T5 NWC Manual
Axle/Gears: Torsen T2 / 3.23
Hi... I've just completed a 350 crate engine swap into my TransAm. Started with the BowTie heads which I got for a mere $300.00nz ($150.00us aprox) at a party of all places! Anyway, fitted straight in although I had to use a different flywheel (New motor is a two piece seal). Also shouted it a new heavy duty clutch..
I shifted the fan switch and temp gage to the thermostat housing as there were no holes for them in the heads. Running a 650 dp holley and Hooker headers. Also kept the original NWC T5 which I was a little worried about at first but it seems to be hanging in there fine... Pulls like a school boy! Certainly makes a difference from the original 305.
I think you'll be very pleased with the 350 swap, wish I'd done it sooner. Good luck... Geoff.
