Engine Swap
I am looking to do an engine swap in my '92 firebird. It currently has a 305 tbi. I would like to be able to put out around 350 rwhp or more. I would like to keep it EFI and not carb. But i dont want to make it very complicated by having to burn chips. Tho i was thinking about building a blower motor for the car or maybe swaping in an LT1.
Just looking for thoughts from you guys on what would be the most cost effective way of doing it with out really making this project any more complicated than it needs to be. I would like to be able to just bolt in a motor with little problem and not having to worry about my PCM. I know there is alot of posts out there on similar questions so i will say sorry in advance.
I do have alot of chassis mods and a fully built rear end and a bullit proof tranny so all that i have left is a motor

Re: Engine Swap
your HP ratings and such are easily atainable with a simple longblock swap. you can swap the injectors to a higher lbs rating without changing your ECM, get a plugnplay chip which goes between the ECM and harness and your all set.

Re: Engine Swap
What "plug-n-play" chip is that? Where can I get one?
I'm skeptical because I have been down this road. I think if you get an LSx engine with the matching PCM you might be better off. I have only seen those sandwiched in programmers go in Ford products between the ECM and harness. I seriously would like to know where to get those...

I've seen a guy chase issue after issue when using a "piggy-back" chip, all of which went away when he pulled that thing out and tossed it where it belonged.
Get over your phobia about burning chips. It's the only way to do it right.
