ls1 swap vs 350 ram jet.

Is it cheaper just dropping in a 350 ram jet than doing a ls1 swap? The tranny bolts right to the 350 ram jet. HP is rated about 320 and hp on ls1 is about the same. I thinking of going this route. I know it could be done cause I saw it on a 92 rs on high tech.

Car: 82 Berlinetta/57 Bel Air
Engine: LS1/LQ4
Transmission: 4L60E/4L80E
Axle/Gears: 12B-3.73/9"-3.89
LS1/4L60E drop-out - $2k-$3k
LS1/4L60E swap mounts - $200
Exhaust modifications - $500 (assuming you use f-body exhaust manifolds)
Misc. swap parts & stuff (hoses, cables, air inlet hoses, wiring stuff, reprogram PCM to eliminate VATS, rear O2 sensors, etc.) - $1000 (can be done for less)
Total: $5k

Ram Jet crate engine (350 gross flywheel HP vs. LS1 320 net flywheel HP) $6k (by the time you pay for the engine, tax, freight, etc.)
Misc swap parts - $300 (it's always more than you plan on it being)
Total: $6.3k

Both of the above assume you will have to upgrade the cat-back, so that's a wash between the two.

LS1 advantage in driveability, response to performance mods, tuneability - Priceless.
