ideas for horsepower
hey guys,
I am in the process of doing the infamous 305 tpi to 350 tpi swap on a 85 transam, I have followed all the guide lines as far as changed everything required for a proper swap, i did the knock sensor, prom chip, 22 lb injectors, and the esc module. my 350 is being completely overhauled, with pretty much a stock rebuild with these few little upgrades, .30 over flat top pistons ( scarred walls), larger intake valves...heads originally came off a truck so i had to put larger ones in. but the block and heads have been completely machined. my questions are this: how much horsepower should i expect out of this budget build and what are some inexpensive ways to add a little extra horsepower, while maintaining the tpi setup, thanks for your input.

Re: ideas for horsepower
You'll have to be more specific about your build for us to guage where you are now, and where you should go from there. The most important info:
- What camshaft is in the motor?
- What cylinder heads specifically (what casting number)
- What exhaust system is on the car?

Re: ideas for horsepower
thanks for the quick reply, the cam is a melling split duration cam, machine guy said it was stock specs. the exhaust is hooker headers with a x pipe. the heads a 882s( i know they suck but the original heads wear in pretty bad shape) the block is a 10 20, its supposed to be a good cast. like i said its pretty much a stock build minus the few upgrades i mentioned, as always thanks for your input

Re: ideas for horsepower
My buddy tells me I'm looking at 280-300 at the wheels with a 412 (400 block 60 over) with a XE284 cam and a 750 Holley carb with true dual exhaust. The similar situation?
882 heads. He said I'd unleash close to 80 additional HP with better flowing heads.
