86 Iroc 350 Quest
I've been working on a 350 to swap in to my 86 Iroc Z, so i decide to document it on here
So what i started with is a 880 block out of a 1999 chevy truck, i choose this for the roller cam set up. I sent it out DLK Performance to get checked out, boiled, and honed. I shortly got back the block back all clean.

Good luck, i hope this tread will incourge you to go through with.
After many many months i finally got back into the motor. I researched long and hard and debated on what direction i wanted to go with on the engine. I finally decided on useing these heads i found from Powerhouse https://shop.enginekits.com/osb/itemdetails.cfm?ID=2910 They have 64cc combustion chambers, 2.05 intake valves, and lots off other goodies. best of all they are aluminium. I thought they would work good on a mild street motor.

Now with the heads i good order pistons to achieve my target compression ratio of 10:1. Went down to DLK performace and was able to get better prices through them than SummitRacing. So i went with Sealed Power Pistons with coated skirts and 5 cc Dish. Pretty much Four valve reliefs. I also ordered a set of SCAT Light weight Rods also, they only ran me $217 for the set, a pretty good deal if you ask me. After my parts cam in i sent out my crank and flywheel and had them balance the rotating assembly for me, which is a must for any motor IMO.
I got all my parts back last week, with the pistons pressed on the rods and now the fun part starts Assemble. Which i just did literatlly an hour ago. I got the crank in and checked the clearences with plasigage and got it torqued down, along with the rods and pistons in.

Money adds up if you wanna get it done right.
Have you thought about the cam yet? What specs are you thinking about running?
Cheers!

Power? Well my machinist/engine guru thinks 450 hp with a quality tune on the motor, but i would be happy with the 350hp really. Besides my T5 won't take much abuse at that power.

450 HP at 5400 RPMs (max powerband per Comp) is a pretty difficult task for a 350. You're talking over 435 ft-lbs torque to get there. While it might peak at 435 ft-lbs, it isn't likely to maintain that at 5400 RPMs.
Stock TPI hardware isn't going to cut it, although a Stealth Ram would support those heads well.
I'm sure it will be a nice jump from the 305, but 450 HP is a bit optimistic.

Re: 86 Iroc 350 Quest
yeah, like i said i'd be happy with 350, the stock tpi stuff will be heavily ported to make up for the lack of flow in the intake but it will definately be the bottle neck of the engine. Will see how it'll perform, until i swap the t5 for a t56 i think what ever power the engine makes will work well. Once the funds accumulate, first t56, then different maybe better FI, then possibly a standalone computer.
