Q about crossover for duals
This is just a general inquiry. I've heard that dual exhaust systems have a crossover pipe to "scavenge exhaust". What does this mean and is it necessary? The reason I ask is because a friend of mine has duals on his car but without the crossover. He seems to think it's absence is causing this funny vibrating sound from 1000 - 2000 rpm.

It equalizes pressure of the pipes and helps in scavenging by giving exhaust pulses an alternate route to exit - thats why the X pipe is better than the H pipe - the exhaust flow can move quicker to the other pipe by not having to make a 90deg turn
you'll get about 10 extra horeses versus not having one
About the vibration - I don't know- When I had single exhaust I use to get a vibration at around 3grand where my torque peaked

Re: Q about crossover for duals
not really, if you do a dual setup, following the stock routing, with 2 pipes side by side, a X pipe would be simple. However, you can fit a single 4" pipe in there with little headache, so i still fail to see the point of most of the interest in a 100 percent custom PIT-f'ing-A dual setup, when a single 4" fits pretty darn well and will support more power than 95 percent of the people on this board put out. Only real difference is the sound the car makes.

Exactaly! lol, and if im gonna go through all the trouble of putting a dual on, its gonna be pretty legit. i dont think that ill really run into ground clearence issues, because the way my exaust is right now it hangs underneath everything, and i never have any problems with it
