Confused on Exhaust
I have gone through the past posts and I am on confused on everyone's favorite exaust system.
I have a 90' 305 and I need to replace the exhaust, I planned on using the Flowmaster 80 series on there. I really do not want to replace any thing from the cat back, just the muffler and pipes to the cat. Does anyone have any Strong opinions on if I should do this or not. Being 17yrs old and getting only $120 a week and spending $210 a month on insurance I do not have a lot of money and would like to spend the least amount possible.
I am mostly looking for quality noise (not necesarily the loudest) and maybe a little performance improvment, but not a whole lot is necesary. Thanks in adavance.

A cat-back system is the muffler and pipes to the catalytic converter. Unless I read the wrong and you just want a muffler and outlet pipes ?
ALUMINIZED SUPER-TURBO EXHAUST SYSTEM
Direct-fit with easy bolt-on installation—no cutting or welding
Stainless steel exhaust tips sold separately
For '82-97 Camaros and Firebirds
Super-turbo high-flow mufflers are dynamometer-tested to produce horsepower readings nearly identical to a straight pipe! System lowers back pressure up to 80% below OEM to increase power and performance. Long-life aluminized mandrel-bent pipes.
It's from J.C. Whitney Co. at $135
In the catalog,,it's advertized as a Dynomax system I believe. Cheap, descent sound, and easy to install.

I just relized that I worded that very confusing. What I would like to is replace the pipe from the catalystic converter to the muffler, the muffler, and the outlet pipes. I DO NOT want to replace anything from the engine to the catalystic converter.

So then what you want is a cat-back exhaust system. Everyone around here praises the Hooker AeroChamber system, so I'd try that. Everyone has flowmaster, so try to get something different.
Anyway, if you are trying to spend the least amount of money possible then you can get a muffler for around $80. This will make your car sound better and it will give you performance gains, but the cat-back will do you much better. Of course it costs more money (more like $250).
