Want to take my emissions **** off, i know this gets brought up a lot, and i tried to search, but i cant seem to find the exact size of the thread i would need to plug up the holes? im assuming its just a drop something in there and screw it in, or am i wrong? im going into this blindly, so anything would be appreciated...

THEY ARE NOT NPT!!!!!!!
I keep trying to overcome this false information and it just isn't working.
They're flare plugs made for 1/4" tubing. When you pull out the tubes you'll see that they are flare fittings in the ex. manifolds. Therefore you want to get FLARE PLUGS!!!
BTW, that's not directed right at you turtle. It's just that I used that same info to go buy mine, got home and they didn't work. So I went to a NAPA parts store and they showed me that I needed flare plugs, not pipe plugs. No flame meant, OK?

let me double check i have 1 in the box still in the bag. dang have the plug not the bag it came in. but mine is definately not flared.
did you pull the arestor or did you plug the arestor? i plugged the arestor so 1/4 npt worked great. you could also pull the arestor and put a cap on the line that works to and looks allot cleaner.
you lost me on the flare, is it still 1/4 in? oh i think i got it yours is a rubber plug yes? press in, i used a hex head npt screw in worked great.

well if you can find a 1/4 in rubber plug that would work but if you can find a 1/4 in hex head plug that works too. I'm still not crystal on what AJ was talking about. but i bought the hex heads at advance like a week ago and they worked fine as long as you leave the arestor on the air tubes.

rubber wont work. headers w/o air tubes thats the perfect solution. i would get either, there might be a "better" one but it doesnt matter IIRC

turtle......Dude!!!!!!!! WTF are you talking about?
WTF is an arestor? Is that what you call a cop?
OK. KlayBuRn,
You want to know what to use to plug the holes in the exhaust manifolds where the AIR tubes are right now, correct?
Answer that first that way we can make sure that we're all on the same page.

put the tools down and back away, now!!! hahaha
no arestor or silencers. black bit on the end of the air tube i have always called them an arestor.
headers without air tubes is much better, but a heat resistant plug does work. tried it worked fine, but the hex head npt's worked better.

Do you know what a flare fitting is?
The fittings I used on mine were flare plugs that look just like a flare fitting, but plugged. And yes, they are a hex head.
The stock tubing that goes from the diverter to the exhaust manifolds have flare fittings on the ends. They have a 45* (or 30*) flare on the end of the tubes. Then the flare fitting is beveled inside to clamp the tube onto the flared opening inside the hole of the exhaust manifolds. (see attachement)
For example, the flex hose you have on your dryer in your house has flare fittings (if it's gas). You cannot use NPT fittings and have it seal properly. The reasons are they are two totally different sizes, they have different thread pitch, and obviously one has a flare and the other doesn't.
You may have gotten the NPT plugs in your exhaust manifolds, and they may be holding for now, but eventually they will leak and they may back out.

now i see where the brain fart is. i'm not removing the air tubes from the manifold. i am leaving them there and capping off the end of the air tube where the arestor is.
So are meaning with the tubes off or still there but capped?

I want to remove all emissions items, and plug the holes in the manifolds...
and yes, i will be getting headers without the air tubes, but this is something that i would like to do, to just get emissions off for now, since parts should be cheap
