How loud are Glasspacks?

I'm thinking about running a new exhaust system and was thinking about cutting out the CAT and 'trying' to run dual pipe all the way back.

Glasspacks seem nice and small and they are cheap..... but I don't want to be too loud. I like about the amount of sound from flowmasters (maybe I should just go with them).

Anyway... anyone have any experience with Glasspacks?

I dont know if this helps but here it goes.

My cousin has 2 glasspacks on his 79 Vett with no cats and I believe heddmen headers. Its not very loud at idle but when you punch hard you really can hear it. I was fellowing him to a car show once. I was behing my father, and my uncle and had my windows up and I could still hear him taking off from a light in front of me. Glasspacks IMO are nice but they wont last as long as a flowmaster.

Here is my expierience with glasspacks: My grandpa has a 79 ford f-150 ranger lariat with a 460 v8 and a 4.10:1 posi rearend. It has true duals with no cats and glasspacks. It is by far the loudest most obnoxious vehicle out there on the road. On the highway, even when i turn the radio all the way up, i can barely hear the radio. I admit though, those mufflers are about 10 years old.

The loudness can really vary i think depending on the size and brand. They all have about the same sound though it seems, not my favorite for a more modern car but hey, your car not mine, if thats the sound you wanna have go for it. They do need to be replaced every now and then though because the packing burns out over time.

Nothing beats the sound of a glasspack (I know I will catch hell for saying that!). If you want them quieter, just get longer ones. Short ones give that loud cherrybomb sound, while long ones give a deep mellow tone. They last about three years w/o a cat (or far from them), and about one when they are close to the cat.
