Need some help on header selection

Hey guys, I'm learning on the whole exhaust thing, so thanks in advace for ya help.

I'm looking to get some headers for my stock '91 5.7L Camaro. I'm not wanting to spend more than $400 if that is possible...

There is a dude selling Hooker Long Tube Headers for thirdgen camaros. He said it won't scratch or bottom out because they were made for lowered cars. The model # is 2138. Not sure if that is for summit racing or jegs....What do guys think?

LT's are pain in the *** when it comes to ground clearance. If in not mistaken The SLP's are the best out there for our cars.

You can look those headers up on www.summitracing.com by searching for HOK-2138. The problem with these headers is that they are not emmissions legal, so if you are trying to stay legal this is not the way to go. Also, you may get a good deal on LT's, but having a Y pipe fabricated to join these headers up to your existing exhaust could be expensive. Finally, they are 1 1/2" primary headers, and I think you should at least be running 1 5/8" headers if not some SLP 1 3/4" headers. Hedman makes Ellite shorty headers that are ceramic coated for 259.99. You can get a matching Y pipe for $99 more that will even bolt up to your factory cat assuming you have a 2 1/2" cat.
