3rd gen exhaust routing
I want to run a 3 inch cat back in my 84 Z 28 but I can't find one in any catalogs. do all 3rd gen F-bodies have the same exhaust tunnels and if so will all popular cat back systems install without interference?

All thirdgen exhaust is pretty much the same. If you buy any 3" catback made for a thirdgen, it'll go in without any major headaches. It's possible a bracket may need to be moved here or there, but it's no big deal.

Get one that is listed for a tpi car. The only difference is that they have a different cat flange. You will have to have it welded or get a newer style cat. If you do headers at the same time, just get everything for a newer tpi car and it will all bolt right in instead of having to do the extra welding.

I relly appreciate all the input on this . I've been looking thru Summit and all I could find was a 2 1/2 inch system for my year and I assume It's for a stock engine. Iwant to put the 3 inch in w/ my sbc 400 that allready has edelbrock headers that go to a dual input cat w/ a single 2 1/2 inch output. I just needed to make sure that any 3 inch cat back I ordered was going to fit in my 84.
