A/C bracket after headers
Dont' know if your's is the same, but maybe this will help. I just put SLP 1-3/4's on my '87 GTA.
If your A/C compressor is on the driver's side and the bracket attaches to the front two bolt/studs in the header, just cut off the leg of the bracket that would go to the rear of the car. I had seen this done before, so that's what I did with mine. Works great, no vibrations or tension problems. Just be sure to shoot the cut off area with a little paint so it doesn't rust.

My hedman headers came with directions stating that it'd have to be cut and even has a diagram. Its really basic though, just cut as much as needed to clear the #1 primary.

To retain your factory A/C system when using SLP headers you need this specially modified bracket to mount the A/C compressor. Designed to work on 1982-87 Camaro/Firebird.
I just installed headers today and used my same bracket...just had to do a little modification.
Try Hawks...think it is around $44.00

alright thanks, I checked that out and it might work, but what I was actually talking about was that bar that goes from the back of the ac to the first bolt for the header

The A/C Bar
I see your problem. The bar doesn't go on the first header bolt, it goes on the third bolt. On the third bolt, be sure to use one of the original stud bolts. Once that bolt is in with the washer on it, look for the original spacer. Slip that on the stud, then the A/C bar and start the nut. Then start the bolt in the bar to A/C bracket. Once both end are started, just wrench 'em down. The bar will conform.
PM if you have problems, I'll send a photo of mine. (1-3/4 SLP)

Re: bracket for ac
You probably won't have much luck getting someone from this thread 4 years ago to reply.
Just hold the A/C brackets where they need to go and cut off anything on the bracket that's in the way. Depending which headers you're using, some have spacers built in so you can reuse some of the original studs to make mounting the brackets possible. If you've got cheap headers without built in spacers you'll need to fab them yourself. Just look at how the brackets mounted with the original manifolds and how the brackets will sit with the headers and make the changes necessary.

Re: bracket for ac
Believe it or not, I'm still here after four years. As a matter of fact, I think I still have the piece I cut off. I'll look for it this weekend and send a picture a well as a picture of the modified bracket.

Re: bracket for ac
Here's a link to a serp conversion with some pics. The second link in post #1 is a PDF file from GM showing all the parts and part numbers to include brackets and spacers. Perhaps the link will be helpful.
