Big suprise, another 2210 fitment problem. need opinions on this remedy...

Guys, my 2210s are fitting very close to my cross member. It seems like my engine is riding lower than some of the pictures I have seen on here. The drivers side header is only about 1/8" off the cross member. The passenger side header is actually touching the cross member, and my 6qt corvette oil pan is touching the frame as well. I have seen pics on here where guys used a C4 vette pan and it did not touch the frame. I am using brand new stock motor mounts from NAPA. From what I have read on here it does not look like there is any truth to the myth that poly engine mounts raise the engine. The rubber bushings deflected a little, only a very small amount. Almost all of my life's problems would go away if I could just raise the engine straight up. So my dad has these camshaft spacers for use in a twin cam Harley V-twin. He says "these things are as hard as the hubs of hell" I am going to put them between the the engine block and the mount shells that bolt the block. The spacers are 5/16" thick. I am going to lightly grind some of the areas where the headers are really hitting, then I am going to pull the engine out again and put these spacers in and drop the motor back down again. I suspect that these spacers will give me the clearance I need. Have any of you guys ever done something like this? Think it will work?

try getting solid mounts. then your 1/8th inch of clearance will be more than enough. as for the pan sitting on the frame as well, try making your own tranny mounth that raises the angle that your engine sits, you may be able to get enough room by doing that. it worked for me when i went to my milodon 7qt pan

I would not do solid mounts. They will transmit every single resonance frequency and vibration stright into the frame traveling next to the cab. The spacers are a good idea, but you will have to look at the tranny and see if you have clearance problems.
