My advice, if this is street driver, is keep the cat. Or go with a high-flow. It will be less hassels in the future (emmissions will be a huge issue everywhere in the future) and the Borla is adjustable, you'll be plenty loud if you want to be. But you'll eventually get sick of it with no cat - no escape from the noise no matter what plate you run it with. Just a suggestion, and remember, you won't lose any power from a good cat, so don't worry.

Re: yeah! ordered borla cat back and headers.

I picked up a ss Magnaflow 3' cat for @ $100 CND. Flow #'s are supposed to be really good, Magnaflow makes great products, so you don't have to worry.
I think another is Random Technologies? I've seen them in a Yearone-Next Generation catalog, just can't remember the price.

Re: yeah! ordered borla cat back and headers.

My cars fitted with the Borla cat back, great bit of kit. Fitted by previous owner so cant answer ya question but....
I run it with no cat and with the most restrictive plate it is pretty quiet.
Just wondering if you realised, but Hawks sell an electric operated thingy for the Borla cat back so that its adjustable from the drivers seat, nice and quiet or very very loud at flick of a switch.

Not exactly cheap, but a great idea i thought, reckon i'm gonna get one for mine.

Re: yeah! ordered borla cat back and headers.

that looks like a neat idea, see a cop flip the switch see another f body flip the switch! i see some people having a split pipe almost like a y with one straight end connecting to the rest of the exhaust and one with some kind of plate blocking it off. what is this for? and would it be neat to install one of those electric valves at the end of this to create an open header effect for racing??

Re: yeah! ordered borla cat back and headers.

Edelbrock makes a really good set of headers for both the 3rd and 4th gen Fbody cars. I used to have a set on my 4th gen before I switched over to LT's and I had no complaints about them what so ever. Really well made and I remember getting a real "seat of the pants improvement". If I remember correctly, I shaved 3/10's off my 1/4 mile time and picked up 4-5mph. I'm sure you'll get very noticeable gain in performance from those headers.

I also think you're choice to go with Borla as your new exhaust was a great idea. I pre-ordered my Borla YEARS ago, back when they first announced they'd be releasing an "adjustable" exhaust for the late model Fbody cars. I'm pretty sure I was probably the first person in Canada to get one. Ever since then, the only exhaust I've ever put on my cars is Borla. They have a sound all their own.

Check out my signature. You'll find a link to see some pic's of the 3rd gen Borla cat-back I bought for my Iroc not too long ago. If you want to hear a sound clip, check out

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exha...ound-clip.html

Though I'm not running the same headers you'll be (I've got SLP's) , and mines a 350, the sound-clip should give you a rough idea what it will sound like on your car.

Let us know how things go.
