Hedman LT's
i finally put them in, they've een sitting over 6 months while i decided what i should do with the car, and i decided to finish it and hold on ot it.
i'm gong to do a true dual exhaust with 2.5" pipe and dumps before the rear axle.
installation was fairly simple, boy i wish i had cleaned and paint my motor before i dropped it in.

Re: Hedman LT's
how's the starter clearance? i'm wanting to run longtubes on the new dd, but have had problems with chevy starters going out, and wanted to see how much of a pita it is to pull the starter with the lt's.

i had to remove the starter to get the pass. side header in. i don't know if a stock starter will fit. i have access to a mini starter that i will probably use.

Ya dented it some then welded on a few inch extension. Worked like a charm.

Re: Hedman LT's
Do you plan on going under or over the transmisson crossmember? It looks like with your crossmember, you might have enough clearance to go over on one side, but with an auto, you'll at least have to go under on the passenger side. I put my dual 2.5's over the rear axle, but with about 1/8" clearance in places.
I'd recommend putting a heat shield or heat wrap around the starter before it is installed, my stock starter burned up in about two weeks with those headers.

i think i'll either run them under or around the x-member. and i'll probably have them dump before the rear axle, less work that way.

Re: Hedman LT's
After my brother ran his exhaust over the rear axle, but had glasspacks under the backseat, because of the noise in the car, I decided to put my glasspacks behind the rear axle. It's not too loud in the car that way, but just as loud outside.
Do you plan on using any mufflers?

definitely going to use some kind of muffler, thinking about noise levels, it may be in my best interest to run tips out the sides of the car, if i'm feeling ambitious i'll route the pipes over the axle and out the back.
