Re: Paint melted

exhaust gets hotter than that. You need specific header paint.

Even with "header paint" I have never had much luck with it lasting.

Re: Paint melted

My vht ceramic header paint applied and baked on as per the instructions (both in oven and on car) has lasted 800 miles on some bad tunes with a turbo - it's pretty good stuff if applied correctly

Re: Paint melted

Engine enamel on headers = Fail

You need high heat header or bbq paint 2000º and even then the paint will come off. They have to go trough a baking process, noted in the instructions on specific high heat paints.

POR 20 held up well on a set I did, though I did not care for the look of it.

Re: Paint melted

I used that same can of paint on mine but in black.. had to get the drivers side heated up almost red hot so I could angle the collector downwards some and the paint just flaked off once the acetylene torch hit it... guess I'll repaint that area and then see how it does once I fire up the car.. I'm thinking that I will probably have to heat cycle them a couple of times and then pull them off and repaint them again..
