I want my car a little louder, and I have a stock exhaust with a cutout welded in after the cat.
Is a magnaflow muffler louder than my cutout?
Just wondering before I drop $180 on another muffler.

I doubt it, why not put the cutout before the cat, as well as adding a magnaflow muffler?

I've thought about that, but I don't want it obnoxiously loud though.

A 305 with a cat and muffler won't be that crazy.

Re: Is a magnaflow muffler louder than a cutout with cat?
I've driven behind plenty of thirdgens with mostly stock 305 and 350s that have a cat and muffler and are noticeably louder than my car.
Even with the cutout open exhaust still travels through the muffler, so generally thinking, adding a louder muffler would seem to resonate the sound. Especially at a higher rpm.
I think ill just leave it as is for now.

On my 305, it's loud enough to be noticeable at startup. After a few minutes though, it gets quiet. Not sure if quiet is the right term, but it's not nearly as noticeable unless some pedal is given. No cat, cutout in it's place.

Is it obnoxiously loud, as in it can make it difficult to talk to the passenger. Like would you have to close it when ordering fast food. Im just trying to get a general idea of how loud it is without a cat.
