Welding Cat back???
For all you do it yourselfer's like me. I just got my dyno max cat back in. im going to be putting it on this sunday. well heres my question. there are 3 pipes and a muffler... can i just stick those pipes in the muffler it came with or should i have some sort of tape or something around the connections. i dont have any acces to a welder. so would just sticking them in be okay? or is that going to lead to exhaust leaks? and is there any kind of tape i could get to warp the connections?

Grab some exhuast clamps and use those temporarily (they have a tendancy to leak). Then you can take it to an exhaust place and have them weld it up for you. This would be fairly cheap since you did most of the major work already, and it won't leak at all if they do a good job. Besides, I don't think the pipes would stay together long if they weren't bolted on. As for the tape, they sell some exhaust pipe fix stuff, but it's not really made for a permanent fix so that won't really work. Once you get it welded up, you won't have any problems though. Anyways, good luck on the install...

Welding is the best way to go and the proper way to install a catback. Just don't let them weld the I-pipe to the cat. That should be a flange connection and be bolted together. Some people also don't like welding the y-pipe to the cat. I personally do, even though it (the original portion) comes from the factory unwelded. But it's clamped so tight it might as well be; you're never gonna get that sucker apart! If you put it together yourself and use some clamps to hold it together for the drive to the muffler place, I can't imagine them charging you more than $50 to weld it up for you. That's a good catback, btw. Hopefully, you wanted a quiet stock-sounding system when you picked it, though, or you're gonna be a bit disappointed.
