Fuel Cell
Has anyone here put a fuel cell in a Camaro. Have any pictures or info on where to mount it? I'd like to put a fuel cell in my camaro so can have an accurate amount of fuel in the car each time I race..

How big of a cell (capacity wise) do you want? A small cell (3 to 5 gallons) should fit in the bottom of the hatch area with very little work. A larger cell (10 to 15 gallons) will require removal of the gas tank and cutting out a large portion of the hatch area.
Then you have to fit a "firewall" to seperate the fuel cell from the driver's comparment.

thats what I was worried about was making something to separate it from the drivers compartment. I was going to go with a 4 or 5 gallon cell. The 4 gallon vertical cell would fit perfect in the back. But im not sure on the NHRA/IHRA rules for fuel cells in a full bodied car. I still have all factory interior in my car and want to keep it that way.

you can fit an 8 gallon cell where the stock tank was, you will have to fab up some brackets, you then use and aircraft acces hatch to get to the cap. Perfectly NHRA legal.

Is the car a strip only car? or do you do the street strip thing?
Crazy as it sounds it's be alot easier and cheaper to just install a small 2 or 3 gallon cell under the hood with it's own separate fuel system. That way whatever's in the main tank will be the same all day and you can just top off between rounds.
I personally keep a full tank as long as possible really helps keep my 60's consistent-might be a tad slower than if running on fumes but this is bracket racing!!, depending on how many rounds I'll watch the gas gauge and if it moves a wee bit I'll throw more gas back in to try and keep the weight the same. But with both vehicles I run I've found you can be 5-6 gallons low and it makes no differecne in ET/mph what so ever.

well right now its just a strip car, but its still street legal if i renew my tags and insurance. I just never know how much fuel is in the car cause my gas gauge sucks and always has. I bracket race it sometimes, but mostly run a 7.0 heads up class. .400 pro tree. So i was just looking for a little more consistantcy with a smaller fuel tank/cell so i can have the same amount in the car every pass.
