Firebird gear in a 69 Chevelle
So I'm wondering, will an engine, rear end, transmission and wheels from an 87 Formula fit a 68 or 69 Chevelle? I know the engine is no problem, both use Gen I GM engines.
Not interested in wiring and computer and all that. Just fitment, wheel base and bolt patterns, things like that.

the rear wont fit, the chevelle is made for leaf springs, the 3rd gen, coil springs and a torque arm. besides the stock 3rd gen axles blow big time, so why downgrade.

Re: Firebird gear in a 69 Chevelle
I gutted a 89 Formula 350 and installed the TPI 350 motor,700r4,dashboard,steering column, wiring, steering box, sway bars,rims/tires,and a aluminum radiator from a 93 buick lesabre. It took some time but looks great and drives twice as good than with the original equipment. The rear end is stronger in the chevelle(8.5 compaired to 7.5) so its a waist of time. It all depends on your ability and your time and money. I had both cars and some free time so I just decided to do it. Good luck, hope this helped
