I was thinking about somehow fabricating or installing a cup holder from another Chevy vehicle into my Z28 due to it being nearly impossible to drive and have a drink without spilling. Any suggestions on how to do build and install one? Or perhaps on installing another GM vehicle's cup holder?

try searching the interior section... might find some good results. some people have used generic cupholders from walmart or ones from other cars with cool results. good luck to you!

Do this behind the window/hatch controls. Most simple mod you will ever do to your car.

Step one -Walmart/ebay/autozone get a black plastic universal cup holder insert.

Step two - hole saw attached to drill. Same size as base of cup holder insert.

Step three - plastic epoxy around the edge of cup holder lip.

Step four - Insert cup holder and let dry.

Thanks for the help. I am going to look into trying this in my camaro. would it be screwed into the dash pad? I just replace my sun damaged cracked one and would rather not put screws into the new (although junkyard new) one

No, you don't need to put any screws in the dash pad. I did put 2 screws in from the bottom on the vent area. in the other thread, he put them into the plastic of the dash under the dash pad, but not long enough to go into the pad itself.

Shiter plates are realtively cheap (less than $50 on ebay) if you dont want to cut on the original, or decide you dont like it and want to switch back there is no visable damage done. Only issue I see is you might have to move your drink to mess with the radio, but no big deal.
