Axle/Gears: 9-Bolt, 3.27
1989 Formula Firebird - 383 Stroker, BEAUTIFUL
Continuing a sale from a few months back, absolutely no trades, in Carlisle PA 17013: 1989 Pontiac Firebird Formula 383 TPI. 149,XXX miles on the body, 25,000 on the rebuilt transmission, and less than 500 hundred on the motor. Car underwent a complete restoration at 125,000 miles. Pictures do not do it justice, it's just a gorgeous F-body with a ton of muscle.
SPECS:
- 383 Stroker: Eagle crank kit, Crane cam, GMPP L98 heads. Machined and assembled by a fantastic local shop (Bender NAPA - Newville, PA)
- Rebuilt 700R4 automatic transmission.
- NEW MSD ignition package: 6AL ignition box, Street Fire distributor, new coil and 8.5mm Super Conductor plug wires.
- New radiator with electric fans. New oil pump, filter, and injectors. New Optima battery and new cold air intake.
- Polished plenum with ported runners.
- Dynatech headers, high flow converter and Flowmaster cat-back exhaust.
- All worn suspension pieces replaced. New shocks/struts.
- New pads, rotors and reconditioned calipers on all 4 wheels.
- ECM replaced with a new GM unit and Hypertech performance chip.
EXTERIOR:
- Body stripped down to bare metal and refinished in the original base coat/clear coat color, Maui Blue Metallic.
- New fiberglass spoiler.
- All weather stripping replaced with new pieces.
- New Formula 350 decal kit.
- Correct wheels were refinished and given new clear coat.
- New headlight motors and rear hatch power pull down motor.
INTERIOR:
- Grey cloth on black/grey trim.
- Seats are in excellent condition, no rips/tears or fading.
- New carpet, no tears or stains.
- New headliner installed, no sun visors.
- Original dash is perfect, none of the usual cracks or marks.
- All plastic trim pieces in excellent condition, no scratches or wear.
- Original radio. AC converted to 134A refrigerant, blows ice cold.
- Power door locks, windows and mirrors all function perfectly.
- All switches/levers replaced with new pieces.
FAULTS:
- Only cosmetic fault is a small rock chip, right on the nose.
- Driver's seat in not adjustable front to back; was originally a power unit, but electric motors failed and were removed.
Brand new BFG g-Force Super Sport tires. Strait up, this car is real head turner. It looks better than when it rolled off the line in Van Nuys 20 years ago. 383 packs a wallop, will NOT disappoint. It sounds mean, and rides and drives as nice as you'd expect with all the new/freshly rebuilt components. Fresh PA inspection, good until 08/2010. I have only driven it this summer, after my '02 Z28 was wrecked.
Price is $8,500 OBO. Please don't hesitate to make an offer.
To avoid spam, please contact me via private message and I will provide a phone number. Earliest I can show the car in person will be Saturday, 12/19. Again, no trades will be considered. Thanks for looking.
NOTE: Pics below are from my ad about 3 months ago. Car has been in storage since, so they are accurate. Time and weather permitting, I will snap new pics on request.

Again, pics are before 383 swap, there's a whole lot of MSD red tucked neatly in there now. Will take new pics ASAP.
Thanks for patience.

Yeah, I bought the car in Knoxville. It's probably familiar to many folks here, it made it's rounds on eBay for some time, and possibly even this classified board.

Your car looks exactly like my 1988 did, made my heart skip a beat. I miss that car so much. You've done every mod I wanted to do to it as well. Amazingly clean build you have there. Dash lights are probably out due to a loose connection at the rear of the dash cluster, my current '89 does that on occasion. Easy fix.
If you don't mind, what color is that? Again, beautiful car, free bump!

The color is as close to the factory option, Maui Blue Metallic, as possible. It's not as pale as other cars I've seen in the same skin.
I love it because the blue really pops, regardless of light conditions.

Bump again, forgot to mention....
I am open to splitting up the car and motor, although my heart would break. If you have your own power plant and are looking for a perfect, complete roller to drop it in, shoot me a PM.
Likewise, if you're in the market for just a rock solid 383... talk to me.

For the motor AND transmission, complete from oil pan to plenum + the MSD box, I am asking $2,600.
So the body/interior complete would be $5,000.

send me some pics of the engine. um and what does the engine have in it? any pics of it during the build? and who built it? would you ship the engine and tranny? if so it would be shipped to 6270 springfield illinois, and what would you take just for the engine?
