91 firebird ws6

i have a firebird (obviosly) but am not to sure what it is exactly, and how rare it could be

k first, it has ws6 suspension i think, cuz it says it on the centercaps, and says "performance suspension" on the glovey

it has a formula hood, and the fiberglass wing with the v-notch type dealy in the middle of it (very batmanish)

engine is 305 tuned port, with a 5 speed and im not sure what the gearing is but it is bucknasty high, aiding in burnouts,, and i can't verify if its stock or not, also it appears this car had dual cats, because there is 2 new sections of pipe welded in where the cats would be

it also has t-tops, and the 16 inch aluminum rimz

my questions are,, is this a formala,, or just a ws6? or both?
and how do i know if i have the G92 option, cuz thsi car feels geared, and im hoping i got the 230 horse 305 and if anyone has an idea how many of there there are, tell me,, i have a feelign its pretty rare,

oh and its inside peanut butter,,,, outside jelly

Re: 91 firebird ws6

Check your SPID for W66 (Formula) code. G92 on spid equals G92. Sounds like an original G92 5-speed/5.0 TPI/3.42 Formula to me.

Also, go here and download Aviator857's program to decode your entire SPID (RPO's): http://www.geocities.com/fbodyvin/download.html

Re: 91 firebird ws6

The SPID is the sheet that would be in the locking compartment in the rear hatch. This will tell you all about the options that came on the car.

Concerning the decoder: Do you have Microsoft.net Framework on your computer? You will need this and it's free.

Klortho answered where you will find your SPID (it's a sticker with all your RPO's on it).

the rpo codes will either be in the rear glove compartment or center console lid

use this RPO decoder, it involves no downloading http://www.camarosource.ca/php/camar...year=1971&tm=1 just scroll down

sounds like an awesome formula to me, post up pictures man

Re: 91 firebird ws6

you can give the VIN number to a GM dealer and they should be able to give you a print out of the RPO codes

The SPID label is a sticker that has about 70+ RPO codes on it that showed everything installed on your car.

For Firebird's, when it was in the console, it was not on the lid, it was on the side. So if you opened the lid, it was on the side of the storage compartment that faced the driver, so you'd be able to see it from your seat.

But in the last years of the generation, the label was moved to the inside of the rear storage compartment lid. The numbers you've described sound like they might be the lid's own part number, not the SPID label.

But from the VIN you posted, along with telling us everything the car has, you have a nicely-optioned Formula, no doubt. To begin with, the VIN irrefutably proves it very simply without debate by showing an FS(for a base Firebird) and an F(for the 305 TPI engine). The ONLY way it's possible for a base bird to get that engine is if it's a Formula... period... end of debate. And therefore, it prolly also really has all the performance options you've mentioned.

And because it's a TPI/5-speed/dual cat car, it should, indeed, have the "bucknasty" rearend ratio. That wouldn't even have been a formal option. It would've automatically come with it based on that combination of options.

Is your car rare? There are very few rare thirdgens, so no. But you've definitely got a VERY desirable car!

Re: 91 firebird ws6

Here is aSPID label...It has all the RPO codes on your car. Is Y84 on there? If so, GTA. Otherwise, I'm betting it is a Formula.

Re: 91 firebird ws6

The SPID location actually changed sometime in 91. It is without a doubt a Formy looking at the VIN.

Re: 91 firebird ws6

If you want to find out more info about your car, get it documented by GM Vintage Services of Canada. Their number is: (800) 263-3777 and it costs around $50 Cdn. I got my 91 GTA documented in 1998 and that is the # on the letter I got.

From the Options you have listed above you have a Formula,
1) Power Buldge Hood
2) TPI 5.0 or 5.7
3) 16" Rims
4) Aero Spoiler
5) NO ground effects
6) WS6 suspension was standard on the Formula.
7) 3.42 Axel Ratio
8) N10 Dual Cats

If you have a 1LE then its 1 of 46 made in 1991
There were a total 5,497 regular Formulas

1991 is the only year I do not have the breakdown for the Engine & Trans production.

Concerning the Microsoft.net framework, did you try: microsoft.com?

Or you can go to the web page rwdtech suggested (but I personally prefer having the VIN decoder and RPO decoder program on my PC and laptops just in case I ever need it like when I see a car I'm interested in).
