Greenlight 1:18 GTA, some detailed pics.

Hey all.

Few threads are popping up about the Greenlight diecast GTAs. I thought Ide start a thread with some pictures. I took as many as I thought needed to show the detail, and the best ones I could with my crappy camera.

Overall, Im VERY happy with the quality of these things. I picked up two. The details are pretty decent. They got the scale and the options down pretty well. Some people are picking up some inconsistancies...but thats ok with me. I would have liked the dash to be alittle better, and the tail lights to be lenses instead of paint or stickers.

Things I do like is the rear cargo panels are nice, there is felt for carpet and door panels, and cloth belts...nice touch. Overhead console.

Here are the pics. And by the way...this black one is just as hard to keep clean as my real black one wasy. haha. I tried to get it fingerprint and dust free, but gave up.

Re: Greenlight 1:18 GTA, some detailed pics.

I love how the bottom of the car is a TTA! The intercooler air dam, the oil pan, the 200R4 trans, the full exhaust with TTA tips.
Looks good.

Haha...yeah. I figured there were going to be some fuzzy areas in order to make different models and such. Oh well. Its still friggin sweet that they FINALLY are giving the thirdgens some recognition. haha.

That looks like with a little disassembling, it could detail out quite nicely. Thanks for the close-up shots.... love the gold "PONTIAC" lettering on the headlamp.

Re: Greenlight 1:18 GTA, some detailed pics.

Thats exactly why I bought two. One to leave alone, and the other to dismantle and play with. I plan to buy a TTA and replicate my current LS1 swap car as well. That'll require a repaint, and a 1:18 LS1 car...which is proving to be a difficult find.

I give them credit. The amount of detail they got into the GTA is pretty good. And fairly accurate. Wish the headlights popped up. haha.

Looks good.
It looks to me that even the tachometer in the dash is from the TTA. Notice it appears to have the side (boost) gauge inside the tachometer.

Re: Greenlight 1:18 GTA, some detailed pics.

n addition to the undercarriage TTA stf....How about the splitrear seats of the TTA?

Methinks....All they did was drop a V8 into a TTA model & change a few badges out.

My question is, why does it more closely resemble the lower production total (1550) TTA, instead of the GTA? Gonna be more GTA than TTA buyers.

I like how they made the headlight doors not quite line up with the hood.....just like the real cars.

The A/C appears to be unhooked.

That looks awesome! Too bad they didn't do a t-top version, but I'm glad they made one at all. There are some great details in the car that I wouldn't have expected, such as the A/C unit, the rear interior parts, and the door panels, seats, center console... overall it was very well done!

Real nice! Now all you need to do is a little detailing with AC hoses, wiring, brake lines, etc.

I've been detailing my 1/12, 3 in 1 69 Camaro like that for the last 20 years. One of these years it will be done.

I received my 1:18 red GTA, marked #0008, today.... and I have no problem with it whatsoever. I think it's a good overall representation of our cars. Hope to pick up a black one soon and can't wait for the Indy Pace Cars.

Re: Greenlight 1:18 GTA, some detailed pics.

The only real complaint that I have is that when Greenlight first shown the prototype it was a T-top. They probably saved a fraction of a penny per model making them hard-tops. And the tail light stickers are chessy. It is nice to finally have a decent thirdgen model. Now if they will just build an 82/83 TA.

it is strange that they went from t-top to hard top (unless they plan on making both styles), but went to the trouble of putting an overhead console in it! That probably took some time and money to produce. I'm not complaining though, because the model looks awesome

Re: Greenlight 1:18 GTA, some detailed pics.

They probably wanted to differentiate it more from the TTA, so they went with a hard top.

I ordered my Black GTA and pre-Ordered my TTA yesterday.

Do you think that the TTA will be a T-top? Some of the photos of real TTA's are T-tops, but some of the mockups of the TTA are hardtops.

wow...i never knew these existed...all i saw before was a 1:64 scale...interesting...id be all over it if they made a 82-84 T/A seems those years dont get much recognition .... also not too happy with the painted tail lights... but something is better than nothing!

Off of the Greenlight site:

According to their site that is the prototype model, so it looks like the TTA will have t-tops!

I read the TTAs are already at the distributors, and they do in fact have T-Tops (seen an actual boxed one). So, the TTA versions do have T-Tops as AmorgetRS said.

The steering wheel and the overhead console look dead on. The dash and lower console could have been slighty darker, but it all looks good.

Re: Greenlight 1:18 GTA, some detailed pics.

Guess Im gonna have to drop more dough on a couple TTA's now. Ide like to replicate my current TA. I have a couple 1:18 vette LS motors, and 1:18 4th gen WS6 wheels. So I might have to sacrifice a TTA to that task haha.

I have one of the 1:18 knighrider K.I.T.T.s and it has t-tops...looks pretty good too! I hope the greenlight ones attach alittle nicer, though I doubt it.

I bought two black ones, two red ones, and have two TTA's on order. I may try to take one of the TTA's and replicate my 86 WS6 T-top. How does everyone paint now? We used spray cans in the old days.

Haha..just about I just had the body sitting down on top of the motor. If the motor were in place of the TPI motor, it would fit better.

Motor is 1:18 scale, and after some quick measuring, matches the TPI motor really good. In other words, the scale in relation to each other seems just about spot on. Should be fun once I find a suitable LS1 motor to use for a swap.

Re: Greenlight 1:18 GTA, some detailed pics.

I found a 98-02 firebird vert with the correct wheels and all. However... in order to correctly replicate my TA, I need the vette coil covers. Plus, the vette motors will be more detailed due to seeing more. The only thing I have to mod is the alternator...Ill probably just shave it off as you wont really be able to see it anyway. haha.

Should be fun. Ill post pictures after I find the parts I need to play around with it.

Re: Greenlight 1:18 GTA, some detailed pics.

If anyone is going to mod a TTA diecast, could you look under the car for the number, and post it before you mod it?
Alot of owners know their car number, and would love to get the diecast to match their car.
Mine is #231 if anyone finds it, please PM me or email me.

Thanks,

George

Re: Greenlight 1:18 GTA, some detailed pics.

The only nitpicks I have on the Greenlight TTA...

1) I want to think that the Overhead console was dropped after 1987 or 1988...
2) On the TTA and the red car the area in front of the windshield should be body color, not black
3) black seatbelts With the tan seats
4) The GTA used the same gages as the TTA...
5) The A/C canister is too far forward in the engine bay (A little too critical)
6) They painted the rear window edge, but not the windshield
7) The back seats are for the Notchback and the TTA only, I wish they would have used the correct back seat backs..
8) They used the TTA chasis, Transmission, air scoop etc...
9) The exhaust tips I am not sure if they used them on the TTA or not, but they never used them on any other 3rd Gen.

Beyond those little things I am delighted with mine... PLEASE take my comments in stride, I am not trying to bash it I really love the fact we finally have a 1/18 scale car...

Honestly its TONS better than the Sunstar 1982 Camaro
