Who insures your car?

I was trying to use the classic car insurance co. I have used for cars before, but I am now having problems because I have a 16 year old who doesn't have her own car. Who do you use, and if you don't mind, how much do they charge you?

Re: Who insures your car?

Well i just turned 17, and i use Blue Ridge Insurance.
I pay 150 a month for insurance, but i have broad form, so it insures my driving instead of just the car. It used to be 195 a month when i was 16

Re: Who insures your car?

State Farm..... pay just over $550 per year for 2 1988 GTAs with $15K agreed value coverage on each.

Used Grundy for several years and had no complaints; I switched to back SF because of having a local agent.

Re: Who insures your car?

There is a really good thread floating around from maybe 6 months ago regarding this very same topic. I looked around, but alas, can not find it.
That being said, I went with Grundy Worldwide. The insured value of my '87 is $5,000, the insurance price is $100/year. 20 years ago, I paid more than that per month! I have historic plates, and the car is just a playtoy.

Re: Who insures your car?

I am getting ready to get my insurance tomorrow through Mercury Insurance. They quoted me $145 a year with a $5000 replacement value and thats full coverage. It was the classic car insurance though. http://www.mercuryinsurance.com/ Thats their website.

Re: Who insures your car?

i have state farm. I pay 70 a month for my bird(im 17, but its under my fathers name). 160 or so for my saturn(considered my car). but i have full coverage on both cars. if i total that dam saturn its blue booked for like 3 grand. which im worried, it has 198,000 miles and still kicking, id rather have it smashed than a blown engine. We get big discounts from state farm b/c we have 4 cars (soon to be 5) 2 wheelers 2 sleds and i believe my house too.

USAA - I pay about $45 a month w/ agreed value of $8k... The only catch is that it is a military thing so you have to be in/retired or related to someone that is/was...

Re: Who insures your car?

See, this is what is puzzling me. I am 45 years old. Grundy quoted me 101 per year, but are giving me problems over not having a car for every driver. All my daily drivers and home are with state farm, and they want 73.oo per month! Makes no sence to me....

Re: Who insures your car?

Its because you have a 16 yo. kid living in the house !!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Insurance company figures the kid will get/have a license
and drive your car no matter what !

Been there and done it with teenagers living at home! Insurance
company don't care if they drive your cars or not and they ain't gonna take no chances and charge you the added "surcharge" no matter what!

My ex works as a auto insurance underwriter and most insurance companies will boink you in the head (and bend u over) if you have a 16 yo and up to 25 yo living in your home!

My 18 yo (lives with ex) pays $900 thru Progressive for liability/UM.

BTW: I am now back with GEICO after having several different
companies over the years now that I have a clean DL, over 50 and NO kids in the house and my insurance is DIRT CHEAP
for my 4 cars at a shade over $500 a year!
Heck.....I used to pay $1000 for ONE car with liability only!
But thats when I was bad and a road hazard (with a 67 Chevelle
SS 396) and the traffic court judge knew me by name and had my own jail cell !
