Do I have an Iron Duke?
Hi Guys, Besides having my 87 iroc in full restoration right now, that I bought a couple years ago. Back in 1986 I was going to buy a new demo iroc with 5k miles on it, I can still picture it on the lot at the dealer, so when I went home to tell my mom that I was going to buy this car she said no way, the insurance would be expensive and your going to kill yourself in that thing. Well she was probably right. Lol So I was determined to get a camaro so I thought maybe if I bought a used six cylinder one I could afford it, so thats what I did in 1986 I bought a 1983 camaro coupe with a 2.8 six cylinder in it, with a carb. no fuel injection for my first car, and Its still in my garage today, Its still all original with 93k miles on it. Now I am 44 and me and my three sons go for drives in it, and If they only knew what went on in that car in the 80s. Lol So I guess my question is, do I have an iron duke? and if so is that good or bad. Thanks for reading this.

As already stated the said Iron Duke was the 2.5L 4 Cyl came in a wide variety of GM vehicles i was lucky enough to have one in my first vehicle which was a 85' S-10 matched to a 4Spd man. Wasnt nearly as much of a chick magnet as your Camaro but it was a runner

BAD news? You should be very thankful that your car does not have a 4 cylinder engine that has only 30 more hp than a 3 cylinder Geo Metro! IMO, the Iron Dukes were only well-known because everyone that owned one hated driving it, and purposely tried to kill the engine with abuse and neglect so they could get a different car. They are not desirable by any means.
