Interesting Finds Currently on Craigslist
Not sure if this is the right place for this. i do know that Craigslist ads do manage to find their way onto several boards here. i chose this board, i guess, to piggyback off of my last input in the "why are cars aren't very desirable" thread.
personally, i think that this is the sort of thing that should be a sticky somewhere: Craigslist finds that are actually GOOD rather than just making fun of Donk cars and pimp-mobiles.
some of these ads i found today indeed go to show that a nice 3rd gen is often more highly valued than a nice 4th Gen - and that's including LS1/T56 cars. but it seems like it would be a good resource to be able to access good deals on nice cars and parts when a search in your own region yields little results.
alot of the cars i found interesting are 4th gens, just to illustrate that it is becoming more and more feasible to buy a complete 4th gen for the express purpose of transplanting it's hardware into a 3rd Gen.
okay, so right off the bat, this one is on eBay. the rest are on Craigslist. '92 Formula 350, supposedly a 1LE. only 94xx original miles. reserve has not been met at current bid of $12K.
http://m.ebay.com/itm/181691038604?nav=SEARCH
super clean, '92 Formula w/59xxx miles on it for $7200.
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst...929762297.html
Perfect donor car: 2000 Formula (LS1/T56) w/ >100K miles for $4500
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv...926668406.html
2000 Camaro SS for $5500. remember when we thought these would hold their value? i see more of these for sale than i see Z28s.
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst...928810847.html
i am sure that there's six grand worth of parts on this thing
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst...934686453.html
Not a bad looking car for $2800. if you really dont like 4th Gens, the LT1, T56, ZR1s, etc. would go great on a 3rd Gen.
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb...932069554.html
$3500 LS1/4L60E Donor Car.

It has a laser straight body with the original paint and a perfect interior. I ran the Vin# through compnine when I owned it and they said that it was one of 32 hardtop Formulas with a 305 TPI engine made in 1992, and if compnine is correct with that production number it is fairly rare.

I'm sure that red 92 Formula in the LA CL is the one I used to own. I sold it to a person who flew up to Washington State to purchase it and drove it back to LA.

Hi Linson, I live on Fox Island, just over the Narrows Bridge by Gig Harbor.
I also sold a 1992 one owner all original white RS camaro to the brother of the guy in LA who bought that 1992 red Formula. Thats who he heard about the '92 Formula from.
I currently have 5 Camaros and 1 Firebird all original. An T-Top'87 350 IROC, T-Top '85 305 1C5 California IROC, '88 305 IROC convertible, '89 305 IROC convertible,'88 V6 HT Sport coupe, and a '88 350 GTA Notchback hardtop with every option including leather. I love 3rd gens!
My latest purchase was a new torch red C7 Corvette with every option. I drove it home and garaged it for the winter with 67 miles on it. I haven't owned a Corvette since my T-Top 1972 ZR1 which they only built 12 T-Tops and 6 convertibles of that year, but this C7 was worth waiting over 40 years for.

there was a super clean, red Formula in my area (near Port Angeles) a few years ago (just before i got mine Formula on the road. i talked to the guy - it seemed like a car that he liked, but was not fully into Third Gens. i though you might have been that guy.
i dont remember if the car was an 88-90 or a 91-92.
that was a sweet Formula though, that you sold. that C7 sounds nice. i'm actually still stuck on the C6 ZO6 body style.

I have a soft spot for the 91/2 Formulas-just love those but only in bright red.
When I read the ad I was surprised it was a 305 car. Sure is a beautiful ride.

You don't have to sell me on that. I bought a blue one with the same package as the red one. I chased mine for 2 months. The guy would place an add, even on Ebay, but would never respond to any of my inquiry's. Finally after his last add failed he called me. I met him 2 days latter and bought the car with cash. It had been sitting in storage for 12 years. Mine had 122,000 miles and had scratches but was in mint shape.
These pictures were from the add he placed. I have yet to make new ones. I will soon.

I'm not sure I understand why there are so many posts of 4th gens in this thread. We don't need the posts of potential donor cars when there are so many 4th gen donors today. Keep this 3rd gen related please.

Re: Interesting Finds Currently on Craigslist
i imagine this all is due to rising public interest/appreciation for the Third Gen body styling, and plummeting interest and appreciation for 4th Gens. with the newer incarnations of Camaros, Mustangs, and Challengers being as fast or faster than Fourth Gens, people probably don't care to put up with their lousy packaging and right now unappealing body style. 3rd Gens on the other hand, seem to get some leeway on their lousy packaging due to the fact that they have a body style that is starting to once again capture the imagination.

Re: Interesting Finds Currently on Craigslist
just to clarify: the original point (and i think, the ongoing point) is that our relatively slow L98 & LB9 Third Gens have seemingly now surpassed the relatively fast LT-LS cars, including those with T56 trans - to the point that it is cheaper to buy a whole 4th gen donor car than to buy a pulled motor/trans, and harness for an additional charge. but, if it pleases you, i guess the point has been made.

Phantom Body Kit
http://stcloud.craigslist.org/cto/4915279987.html This thing has been for sale for a long time, could have something to do with the price. In an older ad they had interior pics and the interior is mint original condition but the body looks pretty hacked up in the front.

Based purely on originality, then you are correct in saying it does not belong in this forum.

Historically speaking, you are correct that 4th gens have been more $ than a 3rd gen, but they are not historical to a 3rd gen. They are newer than a 3rd gen. This forum is for 3rd gen history. A 4th gen is future.

Re: Interesting Finds Currently on Craigslist
Seems like a nice car for "around $5500." I think this guy doesn't know or doesn't appreciate what he has - hence the reference as a "chevrolet firebird" and the willingness to trade for 30" wheels. He also claims that it has a 5.7 L V-8. Unlikely, as the car is a convertible.
I hope somebody buys this before it ends up with 30" wheels and dollar signs stenciled all over the body.

I really hope somebody saves it soon would hate to see it "pimped" out like Linson mentioned!!!

I stumbled across this low mileage 88 IROC on my local craigslist. Looks to be a very nice low mileage car. I would look at it if I was in the market for another thirdgen.
