I thought this was pretty cool. I found it on the inside of my driver a-pillar of my 1991 Z28 1LE. Its either from the assembly line or the supplier of the a-pillar. It reads: "1st Piece 5-1-91 1st shift." Then there is either a crude drawing of a tie fighter, or somebody was circling some stamping numbers.

Hmmm...when was your vehicle built? Looks like the kind of markings a supplier or Design Release Engineer (DRE) might put on a part during pilot builds.

Years ago I had a Cadillac Allante, the guy who painted it in Italy signed his name in the wet paint on the inside of the drivers door... Coolest thing ever.

Of course I only discovered that because the power door lock was pooched... but it still made me feel good about the car.

Comp nine carries that info for some...Z49 Canadian build cars and later 89 up F-bodies. I am no expert on that, but Okfox and JT are.

There is a guy on here that found a penny glued to the tranny hump, heads up, with year of car. He was the original owner and found it we he redone his interior.

Name escapes me.

I work in this industry, just not that supplier and I can shed some light on the markings. That particular part was a quality verification piece. It was the first piece check of that group. They could have grouped it by lot, hour, day, etc. My facility does it by the hour. The drawing is circling the model numbers, the mold that made that may have had inserts that changed the product slightly and circling them was probably part of their quality check.
