Was watching it happen. Thinking it was strong money for a 131k mile 89 GTA with a color change paint job. Granted it was done right with the car disassembled. Love the color too. Needed a few things that wouldn't have cost much to make it stand even taller. New washer and coolant bottles would have made the under hood much nicer, install correct center taillight panel for a GTA, correct factory antenna.

Would have loved to see what a pile that car was, prior to the restoration. In the sellers own post, they claimed the bidding was what the paint job cost. So this was much more than just paint. It was everything, and as pointed out, a bunch of stuff inconsistent with 1989 production.
At $13,500, it's overpriced.

They did a pretty darn nice job there and i think it looks great.i don't think the buyer got hurt there at all.

I have mine on here for $5000. I figured for an all stock car that needs paint it was a good number. I considered painting it and selling it for more but i feel like I might end up just dumping more money into it than what I can get out of it. BaT is a neat thing to watch. The community on there seems to know each other pretty well. And it almost seems like they just buy and sell cars between each other.

Paint is expensive, I know 15 years ago it cost me nearly $3000 in materials alone, that did not include my time or efforts. I would imagine it would cost me twice that in a quality finish. Bump shops use the "Shop Line" for a reason, but it does not hold up like a quality paint.

I painted my motorcycle as a learning project years ago. It layed on even and I had put a lot of work into prep but single stage black looks like crap. No depth, buffing it leaves the outer layer glossy but it's nothing like multi stage black. And if you half *** cars like these it really shows.
that's kinda the crossroad I'm at with mine. Sell it as a project that someone is willing to take on at a lower price or invest time and money to finish it out and sell it for a higher price. But since I recently had a new son time is harder to find and it's going to get harder.

Doesn't that tan interior look odd with the Gunmetal exterior? Nice looking car overall, though.

The color seems like a good contrast to me. I couldn't help but notice how the center of the dash is bulging like it has a broken dash pad under the pad he has on it.

I am not a purest , for some a repaint in a different color is a no no. I think if you can make a car better thats a good thing. That's a great looking car , I say well done for the restorer and good buy for the new owner. I do hate the fees that BAT charges.

I saw the car, it was nice for a mid-grade restoration. At $9-$10k I thought it was a good deal. A driver that looks good and gets the point across.
near $14k though I’ve seen recent sales of lower mile, original GTAs for $18k. It seems a little too close to those for a car with more than double the miles and a color change. It also looked like the front seat covers were new and the rears may have been original and a shade off.
At $9k I’d have considered it.
I think the seller did well and the buyer is likely happy with it.
it’s crazy that a 22k mile car that went up before this one didn’t even bring this much money…
Thirdgen Firebirds are still a good buy
