reverse glow gauge overlays too dim?
i have some white gauge overlays (macewen i believe) and they don't light up hardly at all. i got a set of LED's from superbrightled.com and that didn't seem to help. i think the problem is i would like them to glow red, and the overlay color in the marks appears to be a terquois color...do i need white LED's or do i have another option in white gauges that light up red??
these are the bulbs WLED-4

and the light is supposed to shine through from the back?? You might try a regular bulb...I have tried some leds before, and they didn't work as well as a reg. bulb...you might have to run white....sorry i couldn't be more help...I never seen that brand before..

Re: reverse glow gauge overlays too dim?
originally, i had stock bulbs in them. they weren't bright enough to even see the numbers. that's when i got the LED's. while they are brighter, they are still not bright enough to see clearly. they are red LED's though, and the material that the numbers are made from appear to be a blueish green. i can shine a flashlight from the backside and see the numbers fine.
i'm almost tempted to take the overlays off and leave them like that, but i really like the look of white face gauges.

has anyone sucessfully installed white reverse glow gauges with red LED's? i'm thinking that's the whole problem...i would like red LED's, but if it's not going to happen, then i gotta look into different bulbs.
