I'm looking around for options on some sound deadener. Dynamats expensive, so i'm looking at cheeper options.

Ebay sells 100sq ft, of 50 mil at 90 bucks. is it worth it?

They also sell 80 mil. Is this a bunch of extra weight that i dont need?

I have both the thicker and thinner stuff, the thicker works significantly better but it's also heavier.
I just used the thick in most places except for the rear trunk well, the stuff w/ the blue logos is the thinner

I bought the Fat Mat 'rattletrap' off Ebay for $159.00 with free shipping. I'm about 95% done. It will be enough to do your entire vehicle. Twin_Turbo has the same looking stuff in his second photo. And, as Malaka stated, it's VERY time consuming. If you do the job by yourself, realistically expect to spend at least 20 hours doing the entire interior. I'm actually just finishing the job today and will post photos later this week. Very tedious and unfortunately, these cars don't have many flat spots; it's all curves and contours. The below photo is of a closeup of another car but will show you how much cutting is needed as well as the fact that it won't cover every square inch; there will still be blank spaces, as shown.

Yes, the part with the blue script on it is rattle trap. It was more expensive than the other plain stuff and it's not better. It's thinner and doesn't stick nearly as well, you really need a heat gun to get it to stick on compound curves or other oddly shaped surfaces. The cheaper stuff worked a lot better for me.

I had a big thread goin once, ill just repost what I found here.
I did go with SmittyMats in the end as it was big with the Vette crowd for its light weight but effectiveness. Got it off ebay, they got stuff listed all the time but should of used their reg store, if you search on their name you can find discount codes all over, there is a link to one below.

Look like everyone sell the same basic stuff, those that sponsor racing and have adds on TV just charge out the BLEEP for it............ Also a friend who got dynamat form summit just the other day the salesmen said the price will be going up here soon.

Just hard to spend that much but want some comments.

1 tip get the tape, I cheaped out n tried to use chrome duct tape the first time, which was soon hanging lose, now the sticky part of the tape was still there but the outter covering was lose, that aluminum tape that comes in the kits is awesome stuff.

Have ordered twice now.
