Black Interior swap/ 4th gen seats

Hey guys, I was getting tired of the tan interior in my '88. Swapped in some black interior plastics from a '92 that was wrecked. Also got the 4th gen seats, disc breaks driveshaft and rearend out my dad's 2002 TransAm (May she rest in peace...) What is the best way to get the 4th gen power seats hooked up to work in the third-gen? Or maybe even a link to a thread that's already described this that i'm missing...
Thanks, guys.

*Edit* The 3rd gen did not have power seats. Is it as simple as connecting the power to the fuse box and a ground wire mounted under the seat? Or do i need to do more with the other 12 wires in the harness? Not the most savvy with electric if you can't tell...

Re: Black Interior swap/ 4th gen seats

Well, what I did was run wire from the battery (neatly and covered by tubing) to the seats. Since I was installing new carpet, I decided to run the wires under the carpet. I also cut the 4th gen sean electric connector off and went to autozone and bought a connector and just soldered the wires together and I am able to remove the seats without cutting wires.

Personally I would go for the ebay harness like I did, I don't have mine hooked up yet but from looking at the harness it looks like a 2 wire install, you can probably grab the harness out of your dad's T/A

Re: Black Interior swap/ 4th gen seats

All I did on mine was run a hot wire to the BATT empty slot on my fuse box (under door sill) that has a 20amp fuse inline, and attached to the power wire on the seat. Then I ran a ground from the ground wire on the seat to a bolt under the driver safety belt cover. The BATT empty slot in the fuse block has power always, so the seat can be adjusted BEFORE trying to get into the car. Been this way 3 years with no issues.

Re: Black Interior swap/ 4th gen seats

be carefull when you hook up the seats for power because if they were not meant to be used on your car (it was not stock on your model for power seats) then you could trip some codes and disable the entire startup of the car if you draw too much energy from the battery the car will think that a wire has been ruptured somewhere and not let the car start because your seats are drawing too much power. Make sure you have an extra battery ready.

unless the vehicle has a bad battery, i've never heard of these cars having issues with starting due to adding power seats. if that were the case, every one of the stereo guys with an amp in the trunk would be stuck with a dead car in their driveway

well I am speaking from personal expirience with changing interior. I changed to power seats and hooked up for power car would stall and sometimes not start at all with a brand new battery. But it might have also been the heat seaters now to think about it.

I have never heard of this at all, possibly on a newer car with a more sophisticated ecm or anti theft system but I've never heard of this on a 3rd gen.

the seat heaters shouldn't have caused this either unless they were on with the car off, but hopefully you wired those to only come on with the key on. Anything you add should not cause any problems unless whatever you added stays on when the car is off or there is a short, but adding power seats would not draw any power unless you are hitting the switch. I would suspect you have a draw somewhere in your car, how much of the interior did you change? Anyway sounds like a different issue so to avoid hijacking the thread you should try a search and if you find nothing make a new thread, by the way I did have this same problem in my DD which turned out to be a bad alternator. But adding power seats should not cause any other problems.
