Need help with 4th gen set belts
Hi all, been a member since 04 and have always found what I was looking for, so I really never needed to post. I bought some 4th gen seats and belts and cannot get the front belts installed. I've read the tech article, searched far and wide and still am lost on how these front belts fit.

You shouldn't be having any problems installing them.

Yeah the mechanism that bolts to the floor...there is only one bolt hole in the floor, two holes in the unit. I don't see any way that it fits and it dont sit flush to bolt it down. The belts are out of a 95 if that helps. I think i'm gonna take pics maybe that will help.

Ok this is the way "I think" they go in but there is no way it works. The holes don't line up in any way and the bolt is too big to go thru so it would have to be drilled out. Are these even 4th gen belts? They came with my seats which i got from someone on here. I'm lost! lol

The top portion will bolt up. The one near the floor will leave a big hole where the 3rdgen ones bolted. Since it does not have that big plastic housing to cover it. These belts are simply not worth putting in unless you can find 1982 rocker sills.

4thgen belts are a bolt in from that mechanism. I had them in my 86 for a short while. You shouldn't have to drill anything.

Re: Need help with 4th gen set belts
Is that a lower retractor? I have a set of belts out of a 2002 Trans Am, and there is no retractor on the floor, just a sheeth with the belt around a plate that bolts to the floor. As far as I've ever seen the 4th gen belts didn't have a lower retractor...what I'm getting at is are you sure those are 4th gen belts, and are you sure that you arn't trying to bolt the upper mechanism to the floor?
