Seat Skin Removal? Spilled a large Coke on it...

Decided to spill my 32oz Coke from the drive thru all over my passenger seat bottom today.

Is there any way to remove the seat skin to wash it? Do they unzip and slide off? Id like to avoid removing the whole seat from the car if possible.

My seats look like this, if it makes a difference.

Its removable, but not easily. You have to remove the seat from the car, then remove the hinges holding the seat back to the bottom. After that is off, you have to cut the hog rings holding the cover in place, then you'll be able to roll it up the sides of the bottom. Cut a few more hog rings holding the metal rods to the seat foam/center of seat and you can take it off.

You'll need new hog rings and a hog ring pliers to put it back together.

Go get yourself a Little Green Clean Machine at WalMart, they're worth the money. You can use it on the seats, carpet, or whatever.

I have had good results using "Tuff Stuff", a sponge, and a shop vac. No need to remove the seat cover, or anything else.

I guess I can update...

I bought a foam upholstery cleaner in a blue can and went to town.

The roll of shop towels afterwords look they got done with a bad case of diarrhea duty.

Seat is clean as can be now.

kmcn47, what do you mean by "the tear"? Is there a famous spot for these to rip? Hell mine arent even worn anywhere to give me any hints...

it's amazing what a rug doctor with an uphoulstry tool can do for seats. You will get dirt out that you didn't even know was there

That's basically what the Little Green does. I can use it on seats that look clean, and still get brown nasty water in the tank.

That is what I used to clean my seats. Man did it do a stellar job. Just fill it up with hot water. Helps it to evaporate. Even on clean seats you get this sick looking black/brown/yellowish stiff when it sucks the water back up.

Re: Seat Skin Removal? Spilled a large Coke on it...

I used rug shampoo to clean seats with, and had good results. It is very strong stuff, and it seemed hard on the fabric (and my hands). I'd use with caution.

It worked very well on dirty seatbelts that now look tan again.
