Driver side mirror issue

I'm in the process of re-doing my doors and one thing I cannot figure out is how to tighten up the drivers side mirror. The glass itself is all loose and the inside adjustment **** is also really loose with no real adjustability. It is almost like I'm either missing some parts or it is not routed properly? Any help is appreciated!

Re: Driver side mirror issue

You will need to tighten it up from inside the door, have to pull door panel. Or if its just the mirror glass, it has 3 screws inside behind the mirror. ****? IDK

Re: Driver side mirror issue

Where's a good place for new mirrors?

Don't really see them advertised much, and when they do they seem pretty expensive.

A company called 'Dorman' makes aftermarket ones and you can find their products in auto part chain stores. Or, here's a link to Summit Racing; the mirror glass is $7.95 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RN...n/?prefilter=1

Re: Driver side mirror issue

Thanks for the tip, I found the http://www.dormanproducts.com web site.

My car has some accident damage and I'm looking for complete mirrors, including the metal outer shell. These are proving a lot harder to find and I guess I'll have to look for a set in wrecking yards.

Re: Driver side mirror issue

those cables can stretch over time, or they could have come unwound from the control in the door.

Here's what I would do....

Buy a replacement mirror from somebody here (lots of people who part out cars should have them) or from a place like thirdgen ranch, and use your mirror shell, and transfer the mirror and cables to your painted shell.

I think when I bought a cable mirror from thirdgen ranch, it cost me a whole $10

Re: Driver side mirror issue

Ok, got it........good info. I wonder if it is not so much that the cables are strecthed as it is how it is routed. Should the cable be held in place to somewhere inside the door as it is routed? Also, I noticed when I pulled the door panel, there was nothing holding the **** (sorry, should have mentioned I have manual mirros) in place, it just fell from the plastic holder?

Re: Driver side mirror issue

Yep. There is a clip on the back side of the plastic frame which holds the two together. If you can find the clip, that might just solve your problem

Re: Driver side mirror issue

Well son of a gun.....time to hit the pick n pull. I also took a closer look and it seems whomever had it apart before put the green, red and yellow in the wrong slots. So, there is hope yet!
