Cup holder replacing ash tray?
Hello all,
I have a 1985 IROC-Z, and I would love to install some sort of cup holder for those mornings I take it for a spin to get a coffee. The car isn't stock by any stretch, but it's nice and I don't want to do something hokey or that looks bad. When I was searching, I found this:
Cup Holder
In terms of design and appearance, I think it works well (though blocking the radio isn't ideal). The issue I have is, it says "IMPORTANT: Proper installation requires careful cutting and trimming of the car’s shift plate and center console (instructions included)."
I'm not opposed to doing a little modification, but I'm wondering if anyone on here has done this and if it was worth it? Or if there are any better alternatives?

I have made both the ashtray section and a full shift plate with cupholders. there was a post a little while back were someone added a larger diameter cup holder behind the shift plate where the factory clock went.

I went with this one and had no trouble with minor trimming.
