3rd Gen K member notching for AC on LS1 Swap

I have only seen a few pics of notchs for the ac compressor, but mine is hollow and everyone else looked solid. So, stupid question, did you guys cut it and then weld plates to close it up? Also, the 2 L shaped brackets up front, is it okay if I dont run those? Thanks for the help...

Yes they are hollow the pics show the 1/8" plate we welded in. Lots of pics in the link from the sticky here;

Is it ok if the ac compessor is touching the crossmember after the notch is made my is just bascily hugging it. Or will it affect the engine

Those bracket are for support in the front. The third picture shows the one is trimmed to fit around the compressor and notch

I wouldn't want it touching. You will feel the movement of the engine and ultimately break either the compressor, mount bolts or something else.
