I'm new to the chevy performance scene with my first chevy sports car being a 84 Iroc with an LT1. Stock to stock i can easily say this will out perform my mustang but i actually bought this car to street race it out. I'm mainly concerned with what mods to do! I saw this awesome Trickflow 23 super head combo kit for 500hp but it only fits regular 350's and not LT1s. they seem to have pretty much nothing for LT1s. Ive been browsing but I can't find much around the net. I'm wanting to hit about 400-500rwhp. I dont mind supercharging or even turbo (though I cannot find even ONE turbo kit for this car) and I'm thinking about NOS aswell but nothing major. just enough to push me along if im going to lose a money race on the streets (maybe 100hp kit).
Any and all suggestions by everybody in the chevy world would be muchly appreciated.
Mind set has been on ford so long and its just easier to find parts. But I'm making this Iroc a demon of the streetz....
I don't mean to sound like a a** but are you sure its a LT1 in that IROC? 1984 would have never had a stock LT1 in there...
I don't know what to tell you about performance parts for it, thats what im looking for myself, ive got a 91 RS 3.1L v6 im in the process of getting parts to do the LT1 5.7L/T56. We'll see though, if you find performance parts for it, at a decent price make sure to let me know too..
Yeah it has an LT1 but its not stock. my dads friend owned it and had the swap done. its been sitting for 6 months and is now just getting tuned and having new seals put on it at a garage out in california. going to be fully roadworthy for me by this summer.
I actually moved up north unfortunately lol. im up in the cold weather of BC Canada. but I was from San Jose CA. my pops is in Fremont. but yeah I buy all my cars from down south. who knows maybe we might hook up. im hookin up with a crew out here called FTP Racing (f*** tha police racing) and i'm looking to do a few money runs out here cuz theres plenty of fools out here who think they have the balls to run ;-). Only reason my stang isn't twinked out is because its a drop top and the snow is not forgiving out here.
Well at the time being, im unemployed! but, i save up little by little to put money into my car, i had a 305 i got from my uncle for $100 out of a 85 z28, but after talking with you guys i think im just going to go with the LT1 5.7, T56.
I thank everyone for the advice, and i'll definetly be keeping up on these forums, for further advice/help as i go with this swap. It was always my dream to make a beasty camaro, and since mine is a piece of crap right now, I can't wait! If theres anyone from this forum down in northern cali, (Sacramento,San Fransisco area) please let me know, maybe we can hook up, and work on them together or something, i'm only 19 and i've never actually built a motor or anything else like that, i've replaced parts, and but never built a motor or put one into a car like this, so help would be great. Let me know!
both are reputable companies that offer great packages. Lloyd Elliot has lower priced packages, however Ai has CNC ported heads. call and talk to both places, tell them what you're looking for, and they can put a package together for you. both offer heads/cam packages that will put down 450hp at the wheels with the right supporting mods.
also, go to camaroz28.com for LT1 information, not ls1tech. cz28 has more LT1 information
im on my 4th lt1 car and this time im doing a stroker but i had a 95 camaro that i did a do it myself small mods thing to. if your trying to keep it cheap the best way to go would be a set of long tube headers. i go with pacesetter becuase on the dyno they were the best bang for your buck over hookers. 1.6 roller rockers will bump up cam specs to .477/.490 and put an air foil and cheap ebay cold air intake. the one that places the down below the engine compartment this all woke up the car quite a bit given it was only about 30hp at the wheels it puts the motor at around 350fwhp you can buy slp's kit to do this but they want 1300 bucks i did it all for under 600 bucks
