i am currently working on swapping an ls7 engine into a 91 rs model, i have searched the forums and have found a lot of helpful tips, anything i should know other then what i've already found about mounts transmission rear drive axle etc...etc?
Alot of people can come across LS7's and LS6's with luck.. A friend of mine totaled his vette with a LS7 in it, and the insurance company sold it to the scrap yard for 2 grand and my neighbor got ahold of the complete engine for $500. I was pissed i didnt have the cash heh.
Can you make the LS7 non-dry sump?? I thought I remembered reading that you could somewhere... Either way....I would sell my firstborn for a low mileage LS7 right now. I dont have a firstborn...but if I did... haha.
I want to see pictures!!!! Post up some motor pics and some car pics...and MOST DEFINIETLY in progress pics. Will be a bad car when you get it finished....

You can convert them but its a LOT of work. I looked into it last year for my 94 Z28 when I thought I was going to get one for CHEAP. To do it, you have to pull the engine apart, swap out the crank with an aftermarket one that has provisions for the crank driven LSx style oil pump. Then you have to have the block machined for atleast the dipstick tube but I think you also have to machine it for the oil pump to mount as well.
There are a LOT of other things that need to be done as well. Unless you want to run the throttle by wire setup (no throttle cable), then you also need to make sure the crank you get is for a 52x (I think) crank signal like the ls1 harness uses. Then you have to buy a new throttle body and some conversion parts to make the throttle cable work. After all that you either need new injectors and fuel rails or some conversion harnesses to work with the ls7 injectors and the ls1 wiring harness injector harnesses.
Yeah, I would keep the dry sump system too, unless you run into real clearance issues, but who knows i have yet to see someone document the swap into a thirdgen. Dude, pics would be awesome!!
count me in on those pics too! Zo6's are rare in the yards here, so as soon as one comes in, they're pretty much already sold. so i guess for me i either have to fork over the $17,495 from Classic Industies, or steal a new vette. as for electrical and injectors, etc, etc...why not use the full harness and comp from the donor vette?
yeah, did you really think someone had a spare LS7 laying around? The only places that do are race shops and race shops don't go to forums for help... atleat they shouldn't...
