Which headers are the best to mod?
I searched but didn't find much. What cheap LS headers would be the best to mod in order to fit our cars? I've seen some on ebay, but any idea how much any particular header needs to be modded? Thanks.

Re: Which headers are the best to mod?
Here's a few I'm considering:
4th gen - http://www.ebay.com/itm/STAINLESS-RA...item2a16322673
more 4th gen - http://www.ebay.com/itm/98-02-CHEVY-...item19caedf9eb
mustang - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mustang-Fox-...item2eb9581a4c
Or what about a header kit like this? - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-670186/?rtype=10

Re: Which headers are the best to mod?
the best to mod? you mean the least amount of work to make fit? then the hawks ... LOL
if your talking about another application then Ive heard the hooker long tubes for thirdgens are one of the easier ones to make fit. chop the primary flanges off and with some cutting and tweaking reweld a lsx flange on them.
I personally want to hack up a set of 4th gen e-bay headers. but thats more money and time when I already modified the hawks headers to fit
those first two Im pretty sure would fit if you cut the primary tubes before the collector and kicked them in slightly. the drivers side one would need to be cut just before that last bent in front of the collector and rewelded aiming to other way towards the trans. and then the collector pipe cut before it hit the trans.
not sure how you would do the welds unless you cut the head flange off and rewelded each primary then reassembled. lots of work

well... its seems to be the case half the time. the stainless works headers that hawks sells seem to be the best fit and dont require anything other than your own custome y-pipe, but the polished knockoffs they sell fit pretty bad. maybe some people are fine with a cruddy fit IDK but what ever the case there are a bunch of guys who will jump in and tell you the headers fit perfect others like myself had issues with frame contact or darn close where you know it would with engine twist. the pass header hangs low

I'm thinking cheap SBC long tubes and LS flanges would be a doable combo. I've seen it discussed so I think I'm going to go that route.
