Car: 87 Trans Am
Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 2.73
Help For LS1 Swap
I Have an 87 TA with a 305 and T5 with 2.73 gears and i wanna do a LS1 swap in it and i pick up an Ls1 Camero for 3500 turned the key and drove it home i wanted to use what ever i could of that car and then sell the shell. So what all could i use from the Ls1 car over into my TA for the swap because money is really tight but i want an LSx 3rd gen. Thanks.

seat dash center consol pedals gas tank (will have to shorten the neck by 1 inch) rear end front brakes brake booster and master engine trans door panels (with mods) ecu wireing wheels with adapters for front not needed if you use the rearend
the list is endless it all depends on your skill

do ALOT of reading before even unlugging the first connector or lossening the first bolt.

If its your first engine swap or first real mechanical job, I wouldn't recommend it without some experienced help.

i went to school for automotive so its not like its my first time picking up a wrench and ive change more trannys than i can count lol

I did it all on my very first engine swap no experience no garage no tools had to work out of a buddys shop it took me 3 months

Excellent, then the swap should be within your capabilities. I know I've found the LS1 swap one of the most rewarding car projects I've done. Good luck man, and get a build thread going when you start!1!

I am a fan of build threads not only can you see the before and after but all the tricks and headaches along the way and you learn a whole lot more I give alot of credit to the guys that take the time to stop take a pic and post later on and trust me its a pain to stop and think Progress pic time lol
