Thinking about swaping a Vortec 5300 series in, Possible?
I am looking at swapping a Vortec gen 5300 in my Trans Am The motor is a truck motor I would like it since it has a decent amount on power, fuel economy is great and its a extremely reliable motor, I have it in my truck, the valves and the lifts make a ticking noise but damn does it ever run strong!

If you are talking about the LM7, it is really no different than any L-series engine.
Just a matter of intake to intake to hood & accessory to crossmember clearance.

Then just think of it is a LQ9 when doing your reading, as there is very little difference besides the programming & maybe the exhaust header tubing side. But just thrown on some 98+ F-body headers/exhaust manifolds & your good to go. Or if you read "5.3 swap"? That is the 5300. Tons of info here on TGO about it.
The LM7 is done just as much as a LS1. Just requires the changes I mentioned above vs the LS1.

Dude, there's a sticky right at the top of this very forum:

There's also an entire forum devoted to this swap:

Read the LS1 swap sticky. Be sure to click on the link about starting with a truck engine.
The "ticking" you hear is probably piston slap. Very common, not an issue.
