MSD's new LS EFI induction system. Thoughts?
Looks cool, but I'm sure it's not cheap.
It also kinda bothers me that people don't have to actually learn/do any of their own work to do a swap. Literally dumbing down our hobby........
Otherwise........I'm kinda indifferent.

I didn't hear anything about controlling an electronic automatic transmission. Pretty much make it a non-starter for a bunch of LS swaps.
Also didn't see a price. The "original" Atomic EFI is about $2k. I would guess this is in that neighborhood or higher.
I might look into their fuel pump kit for the '57, though.

Simplicity sells
The $2k price doesnt seem too bad either as it includes a full AN6 fuel system and completely flexible tuning system as most people modify as they go
Compare it to:
$500-1200 custom harness
$350-500 custom PCM flash
$250-1000 fuel system
$200-400 for each additional tune for future mods

I will always choose a stock PCM. The systems are tested and worked out, and the diagnostics can't be matched by aftermarket. Some of the features of aftermarket are neat, but I don't need them.

I admire MSD for trying but those coils.... are a downgrade. Check out the go fast cars who "tried em"....
Also the tune interface looks a LOT like a basic handheld which is fine for stock engine tunes but if your going to build mod motors and add cams, heads, or boost?
Not so good.
But for some old codger who wants to do a basic LS swap on his own with plug and pray parts that looks pretty? It dont look so bad for that

Would rather use the atomic setup that looks like a carb. Otherwise, it looks ok. Still don't think I would use any atomic setup.

any of these products that promote this hobby are great, as far as i'm concerned. the more people that put R&D into stuff like this, the better our product offerings will be across the board. on top of that, if multiple companies are competing on similar products, that helps keep pricing in check.

Thats cute, but for a thirdgen, you'd still need plenty of wiring, it gets you to the same point of a "standalone" harness, sure the engine will run if you hook up 3 wires, but the car wont fully function.

That's one of the reasons I think the Holley set up is a better option, it's plug and play and will run everything on a 4th gen except for the gauge cluster which we need a work around anyway. Plus the Holley setup will auto tune the fuel table.

Almost all standalone setups like that are considered "plug and play"
But again sure it'll run an LS1 with a few wires, but the harness will still need extensive work and blending in or wiring added to be a usable thirdgen wiring harness.
Unless you mean theyve got one that will plug in to a stock harness and you can use it for an upgrade with an existing already wired LS1 swap thirdgen.

What does the pcm need to run on a 3rd gen? besides engine management, fans, a/c? Since the 3rd gen cam carburated how much intergretion of wire harnesses is needed?

Yes the "thirdgen" came carb'd, whats that got to do with anything ?
The 90-92 cars never came with a carb, and the wiring is different enough that its not that simple, aside from the fact that most of those harnesses are just plain tired and worn out.
The C100 has the power feeds for the entire car, you need your alternator, coolant temp, and oil pressure gauge feeds from there, as well as yes the aforementioned fans, then a/c if used, early cars the wiper wiring is part of the harness.
All an aftermarket non thirdgen specific setup gets someone with a thirdgen compared to an LS1 computer and harness is the equivalent of about 6 wires hooked up on the stock 4th gen harness.
It doesnt take care of the majority of the wiring needed to be done to have a complete functioning swap.

I could make you a plug for $150 that would have the same couple wire connection, plug into a stock 4th gen harness and make it do the same thing.
That doesnt count for much when you need a bunch of other wires running all over the car to make it work, compared to one custom harness for the car that has no random offshoots and extra looms alongside stuff.
I'm saying the "plug and play" part doesnt count when it only eliminates connecting a half dozen wires.

I'm just saying people shouldnt be mislead into thinking its as simple as buying that and done. It does very little for getting together a complete working setup in a thirdgen.

I would think it will appeal more to the show crowd than the go crowd. It is cleaner in the final install, but aside from deleting unused circuits in a factory harness, probably isn't that much easier integrating into a factory 3rd gen chassis harness. You could argue the programming part, but now you're talking about a $550 tuning package for the laptop that most people have these days vs. $2200 for their system.
And I still don't see that it can control an electronic automatic transmission...

If your talking about the Holley system yes it does control the transmission, many people on ls1tech have installed this system and are having good results.
