HD03835 HEDMAN 1983-92 GM F BODY CARS LS ENGINE CONVERSION KIT FOR USE WITH T56 MANUA

Has anyone used this kit? Is there any advantage of this kit over Hawk's crossmember and motor mount kit? Hedman's is more expensive at $570. Hawks is $375 (when clamshell motormounts are added).

Well, I guess I'll find out. I got a good deal on hedman longtube headers for an LS engine. So, I went ahead and got their engine kit from pace performance to ensure proper fit. Looking at the instructions, there are a couple of inaccuracies that give me pause. I'm not sure this kit would work on a 93 Camaro, but maybe I'm wrong. Page 2 says the C-5 corvette accessory drive could be used. Maybe, but I know the consensus is to use the 99-02 F-Body drive. This is a slow moving project, so I won't know how good their kit is for a while.

The "1993 F-body" thing is probably a typo. It is a bit frustrating that errors like that creep into and never seem to get out of instructions. But, I find inaccuracies in instructions to be a pretty common occurrence, regardless of the supplier.

Vette accessories work fine in a 3rd gen LS swap. They aren't encouraged here because of the "Corvette tax". If you get an LS engine/tranny from a Vette, you'll very likely pay more for it than an f-body engine/trans, and then you get an oil pan that won't fit, and the transmission won't have the torque arm mount, so you'll have to address those two issues on top of having paid more for them; but the accessories are probably a little better than f-body.

The flat collector for their headers seem a bit weird to me (and others who have commented about them). I hope you got them for the 3rd gen f-body LS swap application, because just any ol' LS longtubes probably won't fit. (Side note: I found the headers for my LS swap into my '57 Bel Air because a TGO member asked if Hooker's '55-'57 LS swap headers that he saw on eBay would work for a 3rd gen LS swap - nobody bid on the headers when the auction was coming to an end, so I snatched them up. I confirmed after they arrived that they will NOT work in a 3rd gen.)

Overall, I don't think anybody has a problem with the Hedman kit, other than the seemingly high price tag. I've used Spohn engine mounts, engine mount adapter plates, and Hawks' transmission crossmember for both 4L60E and T56, and didn't have any issues with any of those less expensive choices. And, the Hawks' crossmember allows for easier exhaust routing. But the Hedman kit should work fine.

Thanks - I got the headers from a member on this site. Part # 45756 which is for a thirdgen with an LS. I'll have to get a custom exhaust fabricated. I just wanted to share the info I have so far.

These are Hedman parts, but Hedman isn't mentioned. There are some more photos and info for my longtube headers and LS swap kit.

After further looking at the website, I see that:
1. The Hedman installation kit is a rebranded BRP kit.
2. Pace Performance and/or Hedman kit is $100 more than BRP
3. The crossmember won/t work well with long tube headers and y pipe

I should have ordered Hawks. Returning the kit to Pace for a refund will cost me more in shipping.
