Going LS swap... What to keep
Hey guys decided to do an LSx t56 swap in my car for a fun daily driver.
My question is I am going to part out sell my current drivetrain (350TPI auto). Motor, Trans etc..
I plan on selling the wiring computer everything pretty much a complete drop out of my drive train.
So do I need to keep anything? I plan on picking up a V6 Harness and from my research it appears nothing else is really needed. Just wanted to check to see what you guys think and to make sure Im not selling something just to have to buy it again.
Thanks for the help.

Apparently you can use the 3rd gen power steering pressure hose and bend it up to fit, but supposedly the 4th gen line fits better (I'm not quite there yet on my swap).
Some of the C100 bulkhead wiring is needed, for the starter, constant 12v to the body fuses etc... My T5 reverse light connector is identical to the T56 so I literally had to do nothing for it... But I think yours might be different.
If you had a T5 I would say to keep the T/A mount because it bolts right on to the T56, and so does the mount pad for the transmission.
I can't really think of what else I kept.

Re: Going LS swap... What to keep
If I remember correctly, you can separate the two halves of the C100. The driver side of the plug has the wires you want to keep. Though, you're only going to use a few wires out of it. At least, thats all I used.
The passenger side of the C100 has most of the engine wiring and things that you can take out. Double check... This was on my 87. Then I swapped my modified C100 into my 86 when I moved the motor over to it...and everything still worked.
Otherwise, sell off the major stuff, keep the smaller odds and ends until youre finished. Then sell off whats left You wont get rich off of the little things. Motor/trans will be the biggest chunk of your earnings from parts.

Re: Going LS swap... What to keep
Yeah I was wanting to sell it complete. It pretty much has new everything upgraded fuel system, runners, base, upgrade ignition, exhaust etc... I figured id save me some time and sell complete running assembly motor trans computer as well as all my tuning stuff (autoprom, chips, sockets, custom tunes, etc...)
Local junk yard has a few 3rd gens, It wouldn't be hard to find harness parts.
Well will see I am going to get a Shop built soon and once that is done, I may just part out the motor trans seperately. Unless of course I sell the thing complete.
So from my research and the answers from you guys. It appears it is the WIRING that is pretty much the only thing to keep?

Yeah Pocket, I am contemplating it.
But I enjoy wiring (hard to believe but true) so I was going to try and tackle this myself. I guess it depends on time and what parts car I get.
I saw you have start making ALL new harnesses which is awesome. It is definitely a good job, but like I said I MAY try the wiring myself. If not ill be sure to contact you.

I know I enjoyed wiring mine, I knew very little when I started, but I learned a lot, and figured there will be nobody around here that could trouble shoot it if I had an issue so I better know how it works.
The NAPA counter guy up here is really confused when I'm asking him to search up parts for me, I think he doubts it will all work together...
If I was going new harness I'd for sure go with Pocket, not only are they super slick looking but the guy is so helpful on here that I feel like he should be paid just to post lol.
I had Brandon at LT1swap.com program my computer, his website has a whole bunch of info that I stole from, and his programming prices are the best that I've found... I'll find out next week sometime if everything is working.

Re: Going LS swap... What to keep
Yeah definitely going to go with HP tuners and get it set up that way. The most enjoyable part I had with my TPI was the tuning and tweaking. Cant wait to be able to do more with the LS stuff.
Plus being an engineer I am very excited about the programming/tuning opportunities.
